2020 Free Agency and Draft Moves

Armstead signed - not a real fan of this... would rather have kept Buckner. But I understand contract wise it may not have worked
Ward signed - he played good last year and they got him on a team friendly deal
Buckner traded for #13 1st round pick from Indy. If we couldn't sign him this is a great deal
With the 13th pick I would like to get Jeudy or Lamb. I would like to see the later pick used to take a cb to get groomed under Sherman
Still need to tender Bourne
Players to cut
Joe Staley - save about $10 million. Skule outplayed him last year and his cost is minimal
Jerrick McKinnon - save $4.5 million... this was a bad signing from the start
Marquis Goodman - save $3.6 million - replaced with Pettis
Tevin Coleman - save $4.8 million - draft a back up for Mostert
CJ Beatherd - save $1.6 million - have Mullins and draft a late round QB
Probably resign 1 or 2 of the low priced DLinemen
Agree with everything except Staley. Joe isn't going anywhere, and the claim that Skule outperformed him is highly questionable. Agree with the rest.

If you look at the structure of his contract it makes sense to say Goodbye.
With the moves I have above they would be around $35 million under the cap before the draft.
If they thought Sherman was declining they could also cut him and save $11 million.

If the 9ers were in dire need of cap space and weren't playoff contenders then it would make sense. But 9ers playoffs window started last season and the last thing this team needs is to start looking for their franchise LT again.

They're 21 mil under right now, what would you need to be $35 mil under for without a starting LT?

Just go back and watch the games and tell me which LT fits the Shanahan system better. I think you will be surprised at what you see!

Regardless, one is a starting Pro Bowl LT and the other comes basically with a tiny tiny TINY cap hit. And in the NFL depth is just as important to have than just one starter.
Time to get rid of Goodwin and some others for something.
The other things to considered
1. Kittle needs to be extended... making him the highest paid tight end.
2. Cap space for other signings to fill the roster
3. Cap space for draft picks
Bourne and Breida tendered, McKinon restructured - should mean that Sanders won't be back and Tevin Coleman should be cut
LT - Shon Coleman signed to 1 year deal - I really think something needs to happen with Staley's contract. Either trade, restructure, or cut him.
