Yannick Ngakoue - 2021 Free Agent

Sounds like we have over 20 mil in cap space. Not sure what the plan is for Ford, but I still want this guy to be our pass rushing defensive end on passing down to compliment Bosa on other side. Armstead can play the big end and move inside on passing down and put Yannick on edge. He is a perfect fit for what we needed from Ford. Got lucky he was traded twice to teams that weren't the best fits and that might have kept his price tag a little lower.

We need to cut him June 1st to minimize his dead cap hit. It's 14+ million before June 1st. Only about 5 million in dead money after.

5.7 actually! I just wonder if anyone with cap space might be willing to give up a mid to late round pick for him like the Jets...

I had no hopes for a pick. I figured he would either agree to a massive pay cut or simply be cut. If we could trade him for anything, I'd take it.

Heck, I trade broken Ford and a 6th rounder for a team with cap space for a salary dump.

I thought it was 4.78. I'm pretty sure that 5.7 is the savings they'd get if they cut him pre-June 1st, with 14.4 in dead money; and if they cut him post-June 1st, it's 4.78 in dead money and 15.3 in savings.

BRB gonna look at Over The Cap.

Dead cap is irrelevant. Cap savings is all that matters.

Cap savings takes into account dead cap.

Using dead cap alone does not provide context nor the full picture of the transaction.

No chance. Lol

I guess I am back on this train, especially since he seems to be playing out of place with the Vikings and Ravens. Him and Bosa on the edges in the wide 9 is my ideal pass rush combination for 2021. He may be the Wish version of Dee Ford, but at least he can actually stay on the field at this point in his career. I want a speed rusher opposite of Bosa, and this seems like the most realistic option IMHO.

I would be extremely excited to get this guy on the other side of Bosa this year no doubt

Cap savings is significantly less if he's cut prior to June 1st.

I'm not so sure he's nearly as hurt as he claims to be? I'm pretty sure he's loafing it. I think a 49ers doctor will say he's good to go. Then again, maybe he'll fake it enough to convince a doctor he's hurt.

1.8m is immaterial.
