Neither Saleh or Fangios defense got us the W in the superbowl. The only DC that ran a defense similar to the what we run now shutdown a peyton manning lead offense, think that was the year he broke all those records too. Basically won the game and gave RW his chip. I really love fangio too, but I think with the players we have right now I'd rather give quinn a DC shot, but theyre really close.

That defense also had a prime Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Bobby Wagner and a beastly pass rush. Give any number of defensive coaches that lineup and they'll be able to call a pretty damn good game too.

good game, but not sure if enough to win. Sher last year wasn't as athletic, but played coverage wise as well as hes played his whole career. The only edge I see is the safeties and maybe wagner>warner/alexander. I feel our pass rush was as beastly or more beastly than theirs so kinda evens out. So back to the whole point of this. If saleh were to leave, no one would want the guy than ran the defense with such similarities to why they were labeled the legion of boom when we have players that were brought in to replicate that. Instead want our dline coach that only seems to know dline stuff or zimmer's defense thats constantly been torched in the playoffs? ... anywho thats just my opinion and you guys are entitled to yours. Whatever the 49ers do I'll be there to ride the journey with them.

No way to Dan Quinn

you guys are crazy. He's a respected DC. Will be one for years down the road. 70% of you wanted Saleh fired.

I found this to be pretty a pretty convincing case against Dan Quinn as DC should Saleh leave.
Personally I think the best possible replacements would be Fangio and Bradley if either are available. Kyle also supposedly targeted both those guys when he was first hired. Zimmer would be fun to watch.

Like I said, Dan Quinn is still running the OUTDATED Seattle scheme v1.0 cover 3 4-3 under. The guy has no idea how to evolve it, and the entire league has known how to beat it for years now. Even Saleh has significantly evolved the scheme so much that is doesn't look anything like it did in Seattle.

I like what Saleh has done with our scheme. 49ers are turning into their own wide 9 quarters defense.

It's not about respect it's about wins. This guys defense has been s**t for 5 plus years now. No thanks

This. I would rather them bring in a young(ish) college coach who would innovate with the talent then someone who is set and make the talent work within.
I guess I am back on this train, especially since he seems to be playing out of place with the Vikings and Ravens. Him and Bosa on the edges in the wide 9 is my ideal pass rush combination for 2021. He may be the Wish version of Dee Ford, but at least he can actually stay on the field at this point in his career. I want a speed rusher opposite of Bosa, and this seems like the most realistic option IMHO.

My ideal pass rush for 2021 is Bosa, Donald, Jones and Young would be pretty unstoppable imo

If we have to give up more than a second rounder to make this happen I say walk from it.
