Spotrac estimates $8.8m for Lawson. That sounds about right. He's underrated because he doesn't have huge numbers, but the pass-rush nerds know what's up with Lawson. Dude is a monster. Only Khalil Mack says more tackles flying than Lawson.

Overthecap has him just under 12 mil which if there's a bidding war which I assume happens he gets to in a Hurry

Is he pretty good pass rushing from the right? I say this only because Bosa has that position and I'm sure they will be interchangeable but who knows. I would say he's going to cost anywhere from 10 to 12 mil

Carl Lawson is a every-down player. Dude is a TANK! Short and swole as f**k. Lawson and Bosa can rush from either side.
We can flush the giant turd known as Arik Armstead down the toilet if we can acquire Lawson.

Need to secure big Trent before thinking of a splashy signing like Lawson. I'd rather have Lawson than Verrett considering age, durability, and position.

Same here but considering position, we have nothing at the one Verrett plays lol

With the cap getting a cut this year and a lot of questions still out about the next year....I wouldn't be surprised if contracts fall short this year too. Might even see guys taking much shorter deals hoping to get back to FA in a better market in a couple years.

If you acquire Lawson then you no longer have to prioritize edge early in the draft. If they could pull off re-signing Williams along with adding Lawson and Mack then you could go early CB with someone like Farley and then double up on the position with a pick in the 3rd or 4th as well.

Which of our current ufa's are you willing to loose in order to sign Lawson?

Lawson's age is what is so appealing to me. I think he'd be primarily a sub-package player with AA being the LDE on run/pass neutral downs. Then go very young with the CBs (bye Verrett). I'm down for that.

The nice thing is that sitting at #12, the 49ers are in a good position to move in any number of directions. Need an edge rusher? There's some intriguing prospects there. Same thing with CB, OL, potentially TE if Pitts drops and there's always the possibility of trading down, especially if its for a CB later in the 1st or early 2nd. Stokes of Georgia is a guy I like a lot in particular.
They absolutely, positively must bring back Williams though. Losing him would create a massive new hole to fill.

I agree - we're in a good spot at #12, to get maybe not a franchise player, but a very good player.
