Yah I hope Justin Simmons is in play for the 49ers. Much rather they spend money on him than rely on anything else. This is really the year to go all in before Purdy's contract, let's get a Safety who makes things happen!!!
They must have really got a good prognosis on Huffs timetable to return and maybe confident in it and the pairing of him and Brown
Yeah and Gipson may be the guy to sign a 1 year deal and ease back in Huf. Simmons would want to be a starter indefinitely and he deserves to be. That means Brown will go back to the bench if Huf and Simmons start. That's why we won't be signing Simmons, Diggs and other starting safeties.
Seriously, even with Hufanga back, I still think they should sign Simmons. He can't be trusted to return back to his All Pro level after his injury.
He's the type of player I'm not worried about. He's not some guy who's been dependent on his speed. He's a scheme player, that has good ball instincts.
Simmons would be nice, but he's looking for a decent pay day. I would be very surprised if we get him on some 1 year prove it deal contract. He probably won't get what he's looking for, but he's worth at least a 2 year deal. He's also had his best two years under Fangio, so I could see him going to the Eagles now (they still have some cap space to play with)
