SAINTS WAFFORD RELEASED

Title says Wafford instead or Warford it got me thinking, didn't we have a Wafford at guard back in the day?

They had Kirk Scrafford. Also a few years ago the 49ers had an assistant OL coach named Wolford.

Lol, Scrafford that's the one, thank you.

I doubt SF can afford him. He's just 28 and has the resume to earn a nice multi year deal.

why can't he sign a nice multi year deal with us? Probly Ford comes off the books next year. Maybe we don't agree to terms with trent.

There's a lot of crud on our roster, we could easily scrounge up 10 mil for this year.

What do you think he's worth?

Ya it would need to be a long term deal. They can do it if they want to.

Just one reason why they don't do it.

That also means our FAs that year will be cheaper to resign then.

If we can get him for under 10 mil a year im all for it. Otherwise it is too much for a G.
Dude weighs over 330lbs Shanny likes his guards to be quick enough to get to the second level on run plays. He'd definitely improve our team but not exactly a fit. I'd have to say hard pass

Only way I see us signing him is if he takes $4M deal and we immediately cut Compton. Otherwise, he probably will hold out until a spot opens up.

I don't buy that the cap goes down by $30M to $80M in 2021, they will still rake in a boatload from TV deals, those extra 2 playoff games will help tremendously. I can't see the cap going down, how would teams operate? players aren't gonna change their demands, I just can't see it happening, I can see it staying at $200M at worse case scenario.

Exactly. Don't buy it. That said, very real chance guys like Ford, Sherman, Thomas, etc. could be off the cap or structured down. Plenty of wiggle room if you want a guy. Just get the talent in here now and Paraag it.

Didn't they say something about borrowing cash from future cap space or something?
