If he left we take a comp pick and move on.
Wtf happened?
Seriously claim him and pass the physical for this year and then get a comp pick if we don't want him or he's too injured to play

Injury is probably severe enough that he might not be ready to go until well into the offseason.
Makes sense. Hope we make another go at it this offseason. People have to be realistic about this dumping Dee Ford stuff. From what I understand, this is highly unlikely for 2021 and we aren't likely to get the kind of pass rush help people want without drafting high or spending cash we don't have.

Too easy to see through that if the 49ers "passed" him on the physical, but he never plays.

Maybe they just wanted to get him in the building so they could meet with him and discuss the possibility of signing for next year.

Why claim him if you know he's going to fail the physical?

Obviously he's hurt, but maybe the doctors from the different staffs had a different prognosis?

[insert joke about the 49ers medical staff being incompetent here]

Side note- Why wasn't this thread front and center of the forum??? I had to do a search to find it, like it didn't exist anymore.
What the hell? It's not like they didn't know he had the issue. I don't get it.

It's like watching a hot chick get undressed and every time she removes a piece of clothing she slowly turns into your grandmother.

That would do it! a great big boner killer. You would think we could just keep him on our squad and get a compensatory pick next year

I think it all came down to money and him likley being out a few weeks yet. We can't afford to pay him and have him not play or on ir.
If he makes it through waivers, I could see him signer cheaper or on the practice squad till healthy. Later in the year is possible too. Barrows hinted at that.

I don't think that talent would last that long especially if a comp 5th of 6th round choice is worth his 875,000 in salary even if he doesn't play much or at all. It's worth it for draft capital and a possible replacement for an edge next year
