The only thing holding Jones back last year was the hamstring. He balled out when he was on the field. He doesn't usually miss games either. Last year was abnormal.
Deebo and Aiyuk are really good, but neither have the ability to take over a game like Jones can.
Put him on the this team and we have an offense that no defense can match up with. Plus, if we are going to trade Jimmy next year it would be great to up his value with a career year and super bowl win.
So, as a baseline, we want him on the team. Now it's just a question if they can figure out the compensation and finances. That's a harder question.

Trade idea (Julio Jones)

Rather have Warner and Bosa extended than a WR way past him prime.
He not past his prime and you saying he's WAY past his prime is laughable. Some of the best qbs all have a top wr.
mahomes has hill
rodgers has Adams
brady has evans
wilson has DK
murray (not a great qb yet)has Hopkins
might as well the niners get a top 10 wr and the cap is going up every year. We can mess with the cap like KC, the Saints and so many other teams did this year. No Jimmy G next year frees up so much cap space. Remember rookie qb contracts are excellent for team dominance and increase the chances of winning a SB of the team around him is good

We can have both tho. Also while he is "past his prime" he's still a top 5 WR in the league. That's how good he is

Let's hope not. Unless Falcons dumb enough to pay most the salary.

If the math doesn't work out then yeah, I'd rather have those two extended, but I think Jimmy leaving in 2022 opens things up. 2022 is also when Trent Williams and Kittles cap hits spike up so I'm not sure how it all fits.
I'm all for it if Paarag can work the math out, otherwise I agree with stairwaytoheven - get Bosa and Warner signed.

Then on top of that, throw in Trey Lance. Julio had over 700 yards last season in just 9 games.
Meh, I'd rather have a Dee Ford 2.0 vs a Julio Jones. If you look at Mahomes in the last super bowl, if he had a better defense, they might have held tom to a smaller score, and maybe even pull out a win. I still think defense wins championships, and our defense was 10 minutes away from a Lombardi, but for Saleh's linebacker-centric defense vs a nickel-centric defense. (A better nickel defense might have had a better chance of stopping that 3rd and 15 play)

We'd have to try and predict which players cannot be retained if Julio's contract stays on the team through 2023. I think it's guys like Greenlaw and/or Deebo that could get squeezed out. Cap should be going up the next few years.
Bosa and Warner aren't going anywhere. I doubt SF would take on Julio's contract if it meant possibly losing one of those two cornerstone players.

You'd rather keep Greenlaw long term over having Julio Jones during a Super Bowl run?

He was unstoppable the last time we played him. Would love to have him back with Shannahan and his contract is well worth the leadership he will bring to the younger WR core. We can make it work and we'll worth any day 2 pick next year and the year after.

I can see them extending Julio after the year to bring down the cap hit
