They're preparing for life after Wilson already.

You guys can calm down, I'm actually now on the trade for Julio bandwagon, just like I outlined in my article, new deal for Julio, redo AA & Laken, we'd be fine 2021 & 2022 even with a Warner extension.

Yes AB! This makes me happy, I wouldn't rule out us letting Laken walk in the next few years. Banks seems like a very good replacement and we'd only need one of Brunskill, McKivitz or Skule to step up.

I think Aiyuk and Deebo would benefit a ton from Julio coming in, great guy to learn from.

I'd lean toward an Armstead trade or release before Laken. The defensive line has more depth.

Trading Armstead makes no sense, yes they'd save $7.455M this year, but they only gain $3.5M next year, while we'd have $5M dead money in 2021 & $16.5M in 2022. And besides I don't get the hate for AA, dude is good, sacks aren't everything, is he $17M a yr good, no, but not many guys in the league are worth what they get paid.

I don't hate AA. He's an average player. And overpaid. Trading him would free the $7 million that improves our chances of acquiring JJ.
JJ >>>AA. To repeat, I'd rather they trade AA than Tomlinson.

The problem is 2022 if Julio is on the same contract, we only gain $3.5M, besides the Falcons won't be taking on salary.

The D-Line does have more depth, but AA fills an important role as a base DE, and we simply haven't got anyone else for that spot currently.

I know it's annoying because he's paid to rush the passer and he's average, but we would need to replace him.

I like Laken but I think there's a good chance his replacement is already on our roster.

I'd really like Julio, I think he has gas left in the tank and his impact to our WR room could be as big as his impact on the field.

Shanny is wanting Julio more than he's ever wanted anyone before. I'd predict he's a niner unless ATL or Julio specifically don't want him going to SF. It won't be because SF wasn't willing to give what it takes.

It would be interesting if Julio wanted us the most, our compensation being in line, would Falcons honor Julio or would they avoid making our offensive attack that much more potent?

Does Julio have any say in where he is traded? I see posts saying ATL will want to trade him out of the conference, then posts like this. Who really decides where he'll go?

The team that gets him has to pay his contract. That means they have to be sure he is happy and willing to play for them.

That's not really how it works, though. If the Lions offer a 1st, ATL would take it and Detroit would control his rights. If he was unhappy, his only recourse would be retirement.

This last comment is straight nonsense. The year started without Aiyuk due to the hamstring and Jimmy was out at halftime of week 2. Sure, there was the week against Miami I believe it was was where he played a half, but the guy just didn't look like he had any business being on the field. So how many actual plays did he and Aiyuk get together? Were we talking Mullins or Beathard, yeah, Aiyuk would have been potentially top 10.

Go watch the Pats game, missed on a Aiyuk deep ball or just not seeing him, Aiyuk was letting it be known as well from what I remember. It's only a couple of games together so there's that…deep ball outside the numbers just isn't Jimmy's game not the end of the world.

FWIW That was the first week where I was like damn Aiyuk can beat press off the LOS no doubt.

Fair point bro, I do remember that. I agree that JG under throws a lot of deep balls. But I just felt it a bit misleading given how few games they played together.

Aiyuk is a beast, hope Lance can be the guy to really max out that kid's potential.

Fowler on ESPN just said that Julio is looking for a contender AND a team that has a big armed QB. He wants a QB that's not afraid to push it downfield/has a strong arm.

lol welp imo SF is out as long as Jimmy is the starter

I think SF is out regardless, I don't see Atlanta dumb enough to trade him to a NFC team unless of course they do get that 1st round pick. Which again would bump SF out of the race him.

I'm not getting my hopes up about this trade at all.

This is a huge reason why we don't get Julio imo. ATL would be stupid to trade him to us given that other teams are close to matching our offer. Hopefully that respect JJs request to play for only Shanahan

Yea I'm talking myself out of it now. Felt right for a hot minute there. Now I'm doubtful. Yesterday I was day-to-day

It's like a grand ol case of blue balls. We usually are in contention for excellent players but never get them. Mack, Peyton Manning, OBJ and others. I'm sure Julio will most likely be another miss. If I'm wrong I will be so happy

Except it is. Because Lions aren't going to offer a 1st if Julio Jones says that he'd rather retire.

Even if Julio went to DET for a #1, and decides to retire, then the trade would void, since he didn't fulfil the trade.

It's really up to ATL when they want to deal him, not Lynch, only so much he can offer them, they're gonna use each team against other to get more for him.

Lol I am now, I just want it to not hurt our cap health, but idk if the Falcons will really trade him to a NFC team.
