It wasn't a low ball. No one but the 49ers and Raiders showed any interest in him. It was an over the hill player overvaluing himself.

No it was a low ball, most veteran players on the bench make more than a mil and he started 8 games for the Raiders so I wouldn't say he's too over the hill.

If he wasn't overvaluing himself why was he unsigned for so long? Keep in mind he finally signed a contract less than a week before the regular season opener.

How was he overvaluing himself?? Obviously he got three times more than what Lynch offered him. And coming off a 86 tackle 2 sack 1 FF season, you would think he's worth more than $1 million right. I mean he's not just any ole LB, he does have a history of being more than serviceable.

Pretty obvious. No team wanted him at the price he thought he was worth.

What position he playing? We already got Dre, Fred and Al-Shaair.
If it don't make dollars it don't make sense.
I don't buy the report as linebacker is far from a need for this team but playing hypotheticals. Wagner has missed 2 games since 2014. I'm sure the durability plus would come into play. My guess is Wagner would play WILL and Greenlaw would shift to the other side. Also im sure the niners recognize that Warners play declined much of last season. He seemed to get it back by the end but maybe they think having a guy like Wagner around would be good for Warner's confidence.

It's not that Wagner wouldn't be an upgrade, it's that there are other areas of the team to use free agency money on, including not spending free agency money so that it can be set aside for Deebo/Bosa. CB, S, Edge depth, are all better use of cap than signing Wagner to a multiyear.
