2023 Free agent targets

I know it's a little premature with one week left in the season, but salary cap is going to go up next year and Niners should be looking at some free agents since they don't draft until the late third round. The actual needs and how much they can spend will depend on who stays and who goes with Jimmy G, McGlinchey, Jimmie Ward and some of our D line depth potentially hitting the open market (once Bosa get the bag).

If the Niners need a safety. I would like them to go big by trying to sign Jessie Bates or Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to replace Ward if he walks. Who is your preferred free agent target and why?
Internally and based off of what makes sense financially and position wise would like to keep:
Ward
Omenihu
Brunskill
Givens
Moseley
McKivitz
Brendel
Jennings

Externally: ideally would love a guy like Payne but think he will be too expensive.
Splash Signing: Bates
Guys who could come reasonably priced:
DL: Rankins, Raheem Green, Graham, Ferrell
CB: Mike Hughes, Greedy Williams, Troy Hill

On offense who knows. Maybe they kick the tires on a center like Hudson or TE like Hooper.

When I saw his estimated market value was $8.2 mil I moved on to the next TE…although hoopers was 6.7 🤣

I like your ideas on re-signing their existing free agents. Some people think that Bosa getting the bag will eliminate the possibility of keeping Omenihu and Givens, but I hope they're wrong.

Bates as a splash signing would definitely fit what the Niners need if Ward walks. Getting a veteran at OT, DT and CB would be nice, but don't know if the Niners can afford all three. Really like the idea of signing Rasheem Green away from the Texans if Omenihu bolts. Him or big NT like Rankins would be the ideal targets moving forward.

I'm thinking with the huge jump in the salary cap coupled with a low 1st year cap hit for Bosa would mean it's feasible, but this is not my area of expertise lol
interested ti see how they attack the offseason. Initially thought Ward back on a cheaper deal then draft a FS, but if the discrepancy in pay is like 3mil (estimated market value is 10,6 for Bates and 7.6 for Ward) then F it go spend that extra 3 for a young stud FS. Now who knows if those market value(s) actually comes to fruition

I agree with all of you suggestions.

One that is missing for me is McGlinchey. Trent Williams will be 35 next year. At some point, he will begin to decline. He has had high ankle sprains the past two seasons. Those tend to accumulate and become more frequent. If we let McG walk and replace him with McKivitz, and anything happens to TW, we are left with Moore or maybe Brunskill. We've discussed a lot of options in the OL thread but for me, I want to resign Mc. He is playing the best ball of his career right now, and at 28, he still has a lot of quality miles in him. He is a top priority for me.

Bates would be on a level with Mooney Ward if they could bring him over. Cincy will not let him go cheap. They have $48M in cap room for 2023. I don't see a path to him.
Jadeveon clowney. On one hand he is cuckoo, on the other, he generates pressure.

I'd definitely look at him

You get him on a reasonable deal I'd be all for it.

I wanted Daron Payne but he's most likely played himself out of our price range.
Kyle was interested in Hooper before he signed with Cleveland, I think they go after him again.
