If the Niners target a DB on day three, will they beat out:
Tayler Hawkins
Qwuantrezz Knight
Also, i wish the Niners would have kept Tariq Casto-Fields
For what it's worth John Chapman from 49ers Rush realllyyyy likes Knight as a future starter.

While I do also, he didn't play for Washington last year so no clue if that was a mistake or not.

Still a few edge rushers left after a week and half of free agency.
Ngakoue
Floyd
Clowney
Clark
Campbell
Ingram
J. Houston
Who would you sign and why? If it was me, I would like Floyd as the best combo pass rusher/run defender on an incentive laden deal.

Rushing from a three point stance, I'd take Yannick Ngakoue, he can rush from both sides and I think is the fastest off the LOS. Floyd has pretty much been a stand up pass rusher his whole career I'm not sure he would fit in with the wide 9.

I want us to sign Floyd or Yannick, but if we do sign someone I think it'll be Houston. Floyd and Yannick probably want fat contracts. Houston has already made generational wealth and likely wants to ring chase.

"Former #Lions DE/LB Austin Bryant is visiting the #49ers, per source. Bryant was a fourth-round pick out of Clemson in 2019 and has played in 33 NFL games."

Probably because he would sign for the vet minimum, he hardly played last season.

May 1st is a date to keep an eye on. It's when signings no longer factor into the comp formula. The glut of FA DE's might wait to around that time to see if they can get an increased offer.

Feels like we're on the Drake train to replace Ebukam with the intention of getting vet backups like Ferrell to back him up and/or take running downs.
All good with that, hopefully it works and Drake jumps in year 2.

Released players shouldn't count towards the formula, which is why we should hurry and sign Floyd ;)

Ebukam only had 2 more sacks than Drake. He needs to learn to set the edge and play the run better and they'll be good to go.

But if the market is gonna be set then a group might wait to sign then in hopes of getting more money.

For sure. Drake has a ton more potential than Ebukam ever did. Just hope we don't expect too much from him too soon.
If he takes off though with the rest of our DL......
