Trade for Chase Young

This season will be his "Prove it" season.

If he gets reinjured or plays at an average level - he may be let go or traded.

His injuries are troublesome.

When healthy he was a Frankenstein monster - now he's Igor.
Saw the story that we're a possible trade partner. Don't know what I'd be willing to give but only having to pay 5 million this year isn't too bad if he's somewhat healthy.
If we traded for him and he balls out and leaves do we get a comp pick?

Can't we agree to a contract first before trading for him?

as far as compensation, I think a 3rd in 2024 and another 3rd in 2025 that can turn into a 2nd would be a good offer we can afford.

They could but why would he sign long term at his lowest value?

because he should listen to his agent and take the best and highest contract the 49ers can afford.. he's got to know that he'll have his best years here (3 year if so), then he can ask for as much as possible for any other team..

That should be the take here..

Or play a good year here, then sign a big contract with another team 4yrs $100m(?)

Not Play a good year here and re-sign for next year for$10m.

Or signhere

for 3 years $40m, and be cut if it doesn't work out.

The math does not make sense for him

As much as I'd love for us to be able to get Chase Young, here's the problem. He'd have to come cheap enough in a trade for us to take a chance on. But for them to trade him cheap, they'd basically be admitting they don't have much hope for a full recovery - and they have had the best looks at him. I've seen some people float ideas about player trades, basically swapping "unknowns" - but none of them make sense. Trey Lance was floated out there, but we have way to much invested in him. And still too much uncertainty with Brock and the injury. Javon Kinlaw has been mentioned - but the Redskins already have one of the best pairs (and probably highest paid pairs) of interior D-linemen in the league. So they would really have no need for Kinlaw, even though it would free up our #99 for Chase. So yeah, I just don't see any way for this trade to really happen.

I'd spend a 3rd rounder on a one year rental

True
I'm not sure Chase Young is the guy but we need another DE. Imagine if Bosa is injured for 6 weeks. Who will be our pass rushers? An unproven Drake Jackson and all those random guys we signed in the offseason?

I know they want to give Drake a fair shot but I don't think you can feel good about the depth at DE right now.

Fortunately it won't be the Eagles or Cowboys.

...Washington will keep him.

When healthy, the guy is a stud. His lingering knee injury is the only reason the Commanders didn't pick up his option.

Agree

AND if he's healthy he can give Cowboys and Eagles fits.
Acquiring a talented player like Chase Young could potentially enhance a team's performance, especially when paired with another standout player like Nick Bosa.
