Its only speculation, but I wouldn't mind the signing. Lenoir would though. Lol

I wouldn't mind it at all. The secondary is thin

His attitude with past teams has been a bigger problem than his level of play.

The 49ers are trying their best to be in "win now" mode while also building for the future. They probably feel it's not worth the marginal upgrade to get a guy like Peters when you can develop a younger player who can offer similar (possibly slightly less) play and production at a fraction of the cost with the added benefit of future dividends. This is also why I don't think they're gonna sign a veteran DE (Floyd, Houston, Clark, Ngakoue) and stick with their low price options and Drake Jackson.

Good post. But if Ward or Lenior gets hurt what young player do you trust to come in? Peters would be a one year prove deal. nothing to break the bank or stunt any long term growth. Samething for DE. When Drake needs a breather or god forbid is injured I'd rather see a proven vet come in on situational pass rush downs over what we have. Just like the Eagles did last year. Keep rolling in quality pass rusher Cheap one year deal. Nothing major.

I definitely agree when it comes to DE. I think we should sign one of the veteran DEs on the market especially with how frequently we rotate based on the down/distance. This version of the 49ers has always been best when the defensive line is the most dominant unit, allowing for the DBs to not have to play perfectly. Drake Jackson apparently has completely changed his physique and looks much stronger so I wonder if that'll change their thinking at all. They also have to account for injuries.
At DB, I think Womack is someone who might step up this season if needed and Darrell Luter Jr. is another guy who I think they really like.
I'm not against a guy like Peters though...he would be low cost and probably an immediate depth upgrade. I don't know that he would want to come to SF though since there's no clear path to playing. It seems like Lenoir and Ward are definitely starting with Isaiah Oliver in the slot. The two starting S are set as well.

I like our young CBs more than our DE room right now.
If we're going to add another player, it has to be a DE IMO.

Grabbing another ER would be my preference. Would help opposite of Bosa as well as giving him some breathers and not put too much pressure on Drake

I have 3 areas I wouldn't mind seeing them add veteran depth, EDGE, CB, and RT, but I think we may be good at CB, I love Mooney, I believe in Lenoir, Oliver so far looks good, Luter & Womack should be fine backups, and then at RT I like Colton, I wanna see what Pryor has, he may be the Swing Tackle, so EDGE does win out, but I wouldn't be mad at Peters if it's for the right price.

It's difficult to determine without further information. Age and recent performance are factors that can help assess whether the player still has the ability to make a difference or if they are past their prime.

Peters was my draft crush. Even if he gives up yards/TDs here and there, the guy is a turnover machine (kinda like Dallas' cb). Would give Luter a year to assimilate and be good depth. However, I think Womack could be a turnover machine also. I just don't want to give up on Womack or bury him on the depth chart like we did with DJ Reed
