MBA Mock Draft ver 3.0 2017

With our Head Coach all but signed on the bottom line and NO GM in place, this is a one trade mock draft only based on NFL Draft Scout prospect rankings as of Jan 18th:

Trade #2 pick this year for Jets 1st rounder, 2 - 2nd rounders (this year and next) and a 5th rounder this year

Round 1 Mike Williams 6'3" 225 lbs WR Clemson - no QB is worth this high of a pick for the Niners, but the Jets apparently want one bad. Trade down to #6 and get a franchise WR
Round 2a DeShone Kizer 6'4" 230 lbs QB Notre Dame - I know many of you think he won't be here, but the rankings say he will; QB of the future
Round 2b Raekwon McMillan 6'2" 240 lbs ILB Ohio State - Need to fill huge hole in the middle of our defense
Round 3 Bucky Hodges 6'6" 245 lb TE Virginia Tech - ranked anywhere between a 2nd -3rd round prospect; Niners get a matchup nightmare at TE
Round 4a Montravius Adams 6'3" 309 lbs DT Auburn - Niners need to get a run stuffer right in the middle; no change here
Round 5a Amba Etta- Tawo 6'1" 204 lbs WR Syracuse - need some better targets for our new QB
Round 5b Donnell Pumphrey 5'8" 180 lbs RB San Diego St - the new version of Devonta Freeman to backup Hyde
Rouund 5c Davis Webb 6'3" 227 lbs QB California - double down on QB's
Round 6a Ejuan Price 5'11" 250 lbs EDGE Pittsburgh - Elvis Dumervil clone who is a little older but constantly provides pressure
Round 6b Jaylen Reeves-Maybin 6'0" 230 lbs OLB/S Tennessee - Ray Ray clone to play LB and cover on passing downs
Round 7a Cole Croston 6'5" 307 lbs OT Iowa - Swing tackle to backup Staley and Brown
Round 7b Nathan Gerry 6'2" 220 lbs SS Nebraska - backup SS for Tartt and a good special teams player

My guess is the Niners will address the following positions in free agency:
CB
OLB (DeMarcus Ware ?)
NT
QB
C/OG

Kizer may be green, but he'll be a first round pick and possibly even a top 15 pick. QB's will always float to the top of the draft due to need.

I'm skeptical of any mock that has us moving down, because there needs to be a team that wants to trade up and we have to ask ourselves why we're trading down and not taking the player in question.

  • Titans traded down last year because they already had Mariota.
  • Browns traded down and so far it looks like they'll be stuck in purgatory indefinitely because of it.
  • Washington traded for RGIII and while he was healthy he as really dangerous, but once he began to get hit, he came unraveled. That being said, it's not like the Rams did much with those picks. They still suck, and they still needed to trade everything for Goff (which so far looks like a disaster).

My point is that we can start to outsmart ourselves (i.e. Baalke). Hopefully we wont be picking this high again for a long time. While it may be a swing-and-a-miss with one of these QBs, we need one and we should keep picking until we find one. And at least at a straight probability perspective, we're more likely to hit a home run picking a QB with #2 as opposed to rolling the dice later in the draft.
Pretty solid. Still not buying the Jets making that trade though. I think we will draft Kyle's qb @ 2. So you think they draft 2 qb's and still sign a vet bridge qb in the off season? Ware is to old & to injured. If we were in win now mode I'd be all for Ware. Hopefully they can sign Williams and Bouye in the off season. Only issue with this mock is that you didn't draft any o lineman. Need some young guys in the pipeline badly.

All of this
I think you're dreaming with some of that but i'm not here to squash your dreams.
I think i like this the best so far out of all the mocks i have seen
Fine draft

In my gut, I don't think we'll move down.

We'll see
I can't support a mock with kizer sorry man. Waiting until the 6th for pass rush?

Another TE?

Sorry not a fan of this overall

Lol, CBS has him ranked 34th, but they only have 2 QBs ahead of that. If you think 33 picks will go by and only two QBs will be taken, you're mistaken. The mock drafts on that same site have Kizer going 3rd overall to the Bears and 13th overall to the Cardinals and they were updated in the last week.

"The rankings have him there". Yeah, one person's rankings (whoever compiled those CBS rankings) when every mock has him as a first round pick.

WalterFootball still has him ranked as the #1 QB, Matt Miller has him one spot behind Mitch Trubisky (#17) in his rankings, Daniel Jeremiah has him as his top QB and #15 overall prospect.

There's a better chance we take Kizer at #2 than he falls to the 2nd round.

The trade seems a bit expensive for New York but I like the thinking. Don't think we get Kizer though but I'd be happy with Mahomes.
Can't see Kizer Sozey slipping to the 2nd round.
I really see the Jets deal happening and I agree we need to draft 2 qbs and sign a veteran. Mike Williams is our most logical first round pick. The jets are definitely going to try to jump Chicago to get their choice of QBs.

No offense taken NY. If you look at the one free agent signing I think will happen, DeMarcus Ware could be signed to be the designated pass rusher and much needed leader for a very young squad. Shanahan already had Toilolo and Tamme on the Falcons roster and drafted Hooper out of Stanford early, so that was my thinking behind the Hodges pick.

Are you thinking Trubisky at #2 or someone else later on?

Boy I'm not counting on ware at all dude has serious back issues. This draft is chalk full of edge rushers and I hope we don't wait until the 6th to get one.

Yeah I'm on the Mitch bandwagon I think he fits the mold of what Kyle's looking for.

I'm gonna wait until we see who's the DC before making my next mock my last one totally s**t the bed cause I had McDaniels as the HC lol
