Last Pre-Combine Mock Offseason

This is a historically deep edge rushing class. You simply can't afford to walk away with nothing. Baalke did this in 2014 when he walked away empty handed in the deepest wide receiver draft of all time. Came back to bite him and ultimately contributed greatly to costing him his job.

you don't pass on a quality pass rushing prospect--like, for example, a takk mckinley--for a change-of-pace running back that can be found on day 3, as proven in the superbowl with deon lewis and james white.

Would rather see two QB's taken in the draft, not free agency.

You're massively underrating Mccaffery by calling him a change of pace back. And it's not 2001 anymore. Almost every team has a shared backfield.

Also, just because there are a lot of pass rushers in this draft doesn't mean we have to take one, especially if we address that in free agency.

Resign:
Jeremy Kerley
Gerald Hodges
Glenn Dorsey
Blaine Gabbert
Ian Williams

FA:
Alshon Jeffrey WR Bears
Brandon Williams NT Ravens
Ricky Wagner OT Ravens
Chris Chester OG Falcons
Brian Hoyer QB Bears

Draft order
1 (2) – Mitch Trubisky QB
2 (34) – Charles Harris OLB/DE
3 (66) – Pat Elflein C
4 (102) – Kendell Beckwith ILB
4 (139) Comp Pick – Jake Butt TE
5 (147) – Ryan Switzer WR
5 (162) – Daeshon Hall DE/OLB
6 (188) – Chad Kelly QB
6 (206) – Josh Tupou NT
7 (224) – Freddie Stevenson FB
7 (225) – Montae Nicholson SS
Ocic better than eflein. And better fit

Please remove from 2017 roster: Lynch/Carradine / Harold, Dial/Williams , Bethea / Tart

GM: John Lynch

VP of Player Personnel: Adam Peters

Director of Pro Personnel: Martin Mayhew – Has previous GM experience with the Detroit Lions. Helped build the roster that made the playoffs this year.

Director of College Scouting: Tom Gamble – Stays on board to support our rookie GM.

Executive Consultant: Gary Kubiak – Said he wants to work in a front office next season. Has strong connections to both Lynch and Shanahan.

Coaching Staff

HC: Kyle Shanahan

OC: Matt LaFleur – Falcons QB coach and has followed Shanahan wherever he has been for years. Will essentially stay in his role because Shanahan is running the offense.

DC: Brian Flores – He has been in the New England Patriots organization for 12 years, and is supposedly highly regarded. He has also coached under some brilliant defensive minds. He's not the ideal candidate, as he doesn't have experience as a DC, but we have to make due with what's available.

ST: Richard Hightower – Broadly speculated to be coming to SF, previously Assistant ST Coordinator for the Bears.

Personnel
Resign/Tender

WR Jeremy Kerley 2yr $8m

RB Shaun Draughn 2yr $4m

DT Ian Williams 2yr $7.6m

K Phil Dawson 1yr $2m

Cut/Opt-Out

QB Colin Kaepernick (Thank god)

WR Bruce Ellington

C Marcus Martin

OLB Ahmad Brooks

CB Keith Reaser

Free Agency (Cap Space $90,390,557)

QB Brian Hoyer 2yr $10m – Was in Cleveland with Shanahan. Attracted to the prospect of walking in as the day one starter.

QB TJ Yates 1yr $950k

FB Marcel Reece 1yr $1.2m

WR Michael Floyd 2yr $12m – He has plenty of talent, but hasn't put it together and I don't anticipate he will, but he's better than what we've got.

G Kevin Zeitler 4yr $39m $16m guaranteed – He plays a position that we don't necessarily have a huge need in, but a great offensive line can cover up a lot of holes elsewhere. I think our line is actually close to being elite with this signing.

T William Beatty 2yr $7.5m

ILB Donta Hightower 4yr $32m $15.5m guaranteed – I think ILB is our most glaring hole. Hightower is a playmaker, a leader, and a champion. He comes to SF with Flores.

OLB Jabaal Sheard 4yr $30m $14m guaranteed – Another Pats LB. I think he's a little overrated, but we need talent, and similarly an OL on offense, a pass rush can cover up a lot of holes on defense.

Draft

1(2): Mitch Trubisky QB North Carolina – I know this one is controversial but I love Trubisky. I actually do think he's an elite prospect despite what draft experts are saying. The dude is a gunslinger that doesn't turn the ball over very often. Yes, he's only played one year but that's really the only criticism I ever hear about him. On the field, the guy is the real deal and Kyle Shanahan will put him in a position to succeed.

2(34): Christian Mccaffery RB Stanford – I think Mccaffery is incredibly underrated. He's a playmaker and pairing him with Hyde in the backfield would make our offense dynamic.

3(66): Jake Butt TE Michigan – I know this seems like a very Baalke-esque pick, but we need talent and this guy is a first round talent. We're not expecting to compete this year either, so we get some great value here.

4(129): Josh Reynolds WR Texas A&M – Big target to pair with our young quarterback.

4(Comp) Dalvin Tomlinson NT Alabama – Would compete with Williams and Dial for the nose tackle spot.

5(148) Ben Boulware ILB Clemson – Not a ton of physical talent and pretty undersized, but incredibly competitive. Wouldn't be surprised if he develops into a starter – he'll be a special teams stud at the very least.

5(161) Jon Toth C Kentucky

6(180): Fred Ross WR Mississippi St

6(194): Dymonte Thomas S Michigan

7(211): Dwayne Thomas CB LSU

7(212): Sam Rogers FB Virginia Tech

Didn't we get Bruce Ellington in 2014? Not empty handed
Boulware in the 5th?
Not a big fan of Sheard, I don't wanna spend money just because we can. Not a fan of Mitch but if Shanny likes him then so be it. I think that Hightower would spit on that contract, plus I don't see NE getting rid of him. McCaffery would be a nice backup to Hyde and could pull of a nice 1-2 punch.

Not a bad offseason, but not a fan of some of the signings like Sheard and Floyd, but I am on board with Hoyer.

Does Brady come with those late round backs because what he does is not what anyone else can do. Notice how many teams rely on late round white receivers outside of NE. None.
