Draft:

1- OLB- Derek Barnett (Tennessee) 6'3, 268
3 years with double digit sacks in the SEC. Broke Reggie White's all time school sack record. Relentless motor. He has star potential. Instantly improves our pass rush.

2.- QB- Brad Kaaya (Miami) 6'4, 215
Leader. Hugh football IQ. Accurate. Our version of Kirk Cousins. I think he can be the ideal QB to run Shanahan's offence because he is extremely smart and can work the underneath and intermediate routes better than anyone in the draft. Most accurate QB in the draft. He won't need to start from day 1 but let him sit on the bench and learn and he could be very good.

3- RB- Jeremy McNichols (Boise State) 5'9, 207
Shamahan's offence is predicated by two good backs. McNichols can do a bit of everything. 2183 yards from scrimmage and 27 TD's as a junior.

4.1- OT- Will Holden (Vanderbilt) 6'7, 315

4.2- SS- Josh Harvey Clemons (Louisville) 6'4, 230

Not a fan of Williams, Barnett would be ideal in a trade down only if Garrett isn't there. Kaaya does seem to be in the same mold as Matt Ryan but I don't think he has a high ceiling.

Few thoughts:
- Aggressive FA signings. Some good pickups there, especially Logan.
- Not sure I like the two WRs and then trade Smith away, especially when we don't address the position in the draft.
- Not a fan of Malcolm Smith in a pure 3-4 scheme. He's more of a sideline to sideline 4-3 LB to me.
- Same thing with Derek Barnett. Love him as a player and great pickup, but I don't see him as a 3-4 OLB. He's a perfect 4-3 penetrator.
- Kaaya should be a R3-R4 guy, but I'm just not a fan of his game.
- We are already parting away from Tartt?

What happened to the 2nd picks in round 5 6 and 7
I just can't get behind any draft that has us taking Kaaya before round 4. That guy is awful under pressure and I don't think you can fix that. 4th round or later it's worth gambling to see if he can shake that but if he doesn't have that in college it's very unlikely he gets it right in the NFL.

I wouldn't mind Barnett but if we had to take someone there without trading down I'd rather go with Solomon Thomas or Jonathan Allen.
WR's are no good, we need to draft a talented youngster

Logan is a DT in a 4-3 and a 3-4 DE. That whole front outside of the ILBs are going to get ran over again.
17 contract signings? 10 free agents?

Barnett is the second rated 3/4 olb, he played standing, and from a four point stance and did better standing. He dropped into coverage and had at least one interception. He had better production than Garret in SEC play.

No he isn't.

He is a NT and one of the better ones in the league. He was just playing out of position in Philly. He is a beast inside. A true two down run stopper.

NJ Advance Media's Mark Eckel reports the Redskins will target impending free agent NT Bennie Logan if he hits the open market.
The Redskins didn't even have a pure nose tackle this past season, and their run defense suffered greatly because of it. Washington simply rotated linemen across their front, finishing 25th in run-defense DVOA. Logan didn't fit quite as well in DC Jim Schwartz's 4-3 scheme. He's more of a traditional 3-4 nose and would be an excellent fit with the Redskins

Full out re-build. 100+ mil in cap space. New GM and coach. I don't see half the roster from last year playing a down for us next year.

Can't fix all the holes in one year.

We have a deep threat in Kenny Stills, a chain mover in Terrance Williams and a threat at TE in Vance McDonald. Plus, we have two good RB's to catch the ball out of the backfield and the best pass catching FB in the league.

Sure we could use an AJ or Julio but there isn't one available this year in the draft or free agency.
