The problem right now is the Niners don't have enough good players to make the 3-4 or 4-3 work like it's supposed to. The fix isn't to convert to a 4-3, it's to get the right players in the places they're needed. They're already set up for the 3-4. Example #1: NT. We don't have anything close to a good one. Solution: go out and sign Brandon Williams. Example #2. ILB. Both Bowman & Armstrong are coming off season-long injuries. The depth behind them isn't good. Solution: sign a FA and/or draft one of the top rookie ILB's like Zach Cunningham. I think Hodges is worth re-signing. Example #3: S position. It needs some major help. Reid's in the last year of his extension. Don't re-sign him. Bethea's lost it. Tartt has yet to really prove himself. There are very good S in both FA and the draft. Get some. Example #4: OLB/Pass rushers. We have no one who's scaring the opposition. There are some excellent OLB's in both FA the draft...go get 'em. There's no good reason to change your system...it's not the system it's the players in it. Really no stars to speak of and insufficient depth. Fix that and this insipid debate over 3-4 or 4-3 goes away.
Niners hired Zgonia from a 4-3 DL
2 mentioned candidates from DC were Jerome Henderson (please no) and Robert Saleh. Both from 4-3 backgrounds. It may not be what you want, but it's looking more and more like what's going to happen

Not saying it's all you Corva but some people need to read up before they beat up mocks. Saleh is bringing the 4-3 and Buckner's career just skyrocketed. Buck is gonna kill at the 4-3 DE spot.

And why is Buffalo giving up their first, 2nd, 5th AND 1st next year to jump up 8 spots to draft a rookie QB that everyone is scared to draft? You need to get rid of either the 2nd or 1st from next year to make it realistic.
Right, this is a common complaint I have with these offseason mock drafts. Why are teams giving up exorbitant packages to draft a QB at #2, while we are then turning around for getting Garoppolo for a modest price? If Garoppolo is available for a modest price, why doesn't Buffalo just acquire him instead? I know there's only one Jimmy G, but that also means there's going to be a bidding war for him.

hmmmmmm good point. Guess we'll find out after pro days if a prospect proves to be better than JG.

Please do not misconstrue my criticism the wrong though. It was just a nitpick. Overall I thought your offseason plan was really well thought-out, and I know it's challenging mocking up a whole offseason.

Nah it's cool. It was a great point. Why would Buffalo not give up the same or maybe even less for JG if they felt he was the best option? I never though about all of their options. Instead of giving us a truck load of picks, they would just give up a 1st for the best QB option and a division rivals playbook.
