NYniner85 pre-combine mock 2017

Well I wouldn't put him on the same level as Gordon...Kirk is a best case situation lol
I like the Mixon pick. I think he's paid his dues, and hopefully he's learned from them. I'm all for drafting guys with high level talent that slide to later rounds. The key there, is that if they don't learn from their mistakes, then we can cut them and move on for cheap. The reward is that if they stay clean, we get great talent for a cheap pick.

No I agree...the issue is we won't be the only team interested in his services when he become a FA.

I'd bet $$ we would win that one. Great relationship with Shanny who believed in him when others didn't.

This
Like this a lot. I'm really high on J.C. Tretter too and like the idea of trading back in the first round and going edge rusher in the 2nd.

Agree with you and others that the Kirk Cousins trade and contract aren't realistic. He's going to get paid a lot more than $20 million/year and he's going to cost more than 2nd round picks to trade up for. The Redskins are probably going to slap the nonexclusive tag on him again and either get first round picks for him or use that as leverage to get him to sign a long term deal. I'm guessing they'll end up paying him more than 5 years $100 million. The 49ers would have to pay him significantly more than that to get him to join a rebuilding team.

I like the line free agents but cousins would be more expensive than 20 million a year and would probably cost a little more than two second round picks but other than that OK with everything if that's all Washington wants.

I think instead of getting two free agents on the line, we will get a free-agent pass rusher so one on each side of the ball. That makes more sense

Thanks...Kirk is obviously a best case lol. Sportrac has his market value at 4 yrs $95 million so that might be a better number.

I'll add with the trade comp, Washington is in a pickle and at what point to you have to realize there's most likely not a long term deal to be had between the two?

If they have a good idea that he just doesn't want to be there, then get some trade value for him instead of pay $24 million for one yr then lose him in FA (and get a low 3rd comp in 2019). They can try the non exclusive tag but I doubt a team throws two 1sts knowing how the current situation is.
Like the draft but I'm just not a fan of Cousins.

That's cool I don't like top 10 qbs either

I think he's a good qb. But every time they needed a big win he's failed. He's a definite upgrade but he's not a guy I think you can win a super bowl with. It wouldn't be the worst move in the world but's it's just not something I'd do.

Well that's not it true he has 7 4th qr comebacks and 8 game winning drives in two seasons as a starter...how about you look at the whole team instead of just the qb? 28th defense 21st overall running game...they're not even sniffing s**t without him.

Like I said FQB are easy to find we've been looking for 15 yrs...FYI our HC said he could win a SB with Kirk so who are we to judge
I liked the Mock. Obviously it's going to cost us more though. 5 years $130M for Cousins plus a little more compensation.

Only pick I didn't like was Mixon just because I don't want drama. Best to avoid while Kyle is in his 1st year as HC - plus he's also OC as well.

Would like another LT at some point.

So we got the staff figured out now, moving to a 4-3 and the WCO.....a lot of changes that's for sure (in a good way)

First, QB there's a ton of options we can go with and I expect us to look at all of them...

  • We should look at Jimmy G, Kyle was a fan coming out of the draft and he would be a great fit for us. There are some very faint dots to connect with Adam Peters working in NE, Lynch playing for Bill at the end of his career, Jimmy G's agent and Mike/Kyle has a long relationship with him... BUT I think end of the day we get priced out.
  • Draft, is there a QB worth taking at 2? That's up to Kyle/Lynch to figure out, I'm starting to lean towards no.
  • Bridge QB... this is a likely outcome and I can see someone like Hoyer/Cutler coming in.

BUT I think Kirk Cousins is Kyle's QB and in this mock he's gonna try to pry him from Washington I'm looking at giving them our 34th overall pick and a 2nd next yr. Washington is gonna lose him and I'd think they'd want something more than a comp in 2019 AND I don't see the point in paying him $24 million for a one yr rental.

CUT:

Bethea
Kap
Brooks

Resign:
Kerly-He's a fine slot WR and he competes with Ellington not gonna break the bank at all
Phil-if it's not broke don't need to fix it

FA/trade:

Kirk Cousins (2nd this yr and next)- top 10 QB in the league and runs Kyle's offense 5yrs $100 million
Ron Leary OG-perfect fit for Kyle's zone blocking still only 27 he's our RG 4yr $32 million
J.C. Tretter C- top 10 center and ran a similar offense in GB, he's coming off an injury so the price goes down 4yr $25 million
Johnathan Hankins NT-Solid run blocker in NY 5ys $27 million
Patrick DiMarco FB-Need a FB and it wouldn't cost much

Draft (used CBS for rankings)

I think end of the day a team is gonna fall for one of the QBs and want to jump up, SO we trade with the Bills and it's not gonna be some trade rape situation either. We get the 10th pick, their 2nd, 4th, and 2nd next yr. Yes I know we should be getting more but end of the day we get a 2nd back, picks to add this yr, and a more than likely high 2nd next yr.

1st-Cory Davis WR- He's my top WR in this draft and I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone, but the fact that he won't be running along with a ton of other great defensive prospects in the top 10 makes him drop.

2nd from the Bills (trade up if need be give-up one of our 4ths) Charles Harris DE- He would be the LEO in our new D, he has a great spin move and speed around the edge added a much needed pass rusher.

3rd-Nate Peterman QB- perfect fit for Kyle's offensive scheme. IF anything happens with Kirk this kid can come in and play, your only as good as your backup and I hope this team starts to invest in the QB position for once.

4th- Alex Anzalone ILB- Had a great Senior Bowl and has a ton of talent when healthy...he will compete with Ray Ray a the WILL spot and most likely beat him

4th (comp)- Joe Mixon RB- Yes yes I know dude is a scum BUT I do believe in 2nd chances and he would be a straight monster in Kyle's offense. I'll take a chance with a comp pick and see if Lynch can help him grow into a man.

5th-Marquez White CB-Has length and would have been drafted much much higher had he left last yr. I love me some FSU DBs

6th-Quincy Adeboyejo WR- big fast WR at 6-3 195, he's gotta learn some routes but I could see a Martavis Bryant sort of WR from him

6th- John Johnson FS- had a good senior bowl good size and doesn't hurt he can play some corner as well.

7th BPA

So like I always say after every mock none of this probably happens lol

Nice mock and I'd be very happy with this, so...as you say--it won't happen! LOL!

CBS has WR Mike Williams going at #10 and Davis at #13. I like both and I'm starting to see both Davis and Ross jumping up on some boards. Niners might be happy with any of these guys. CBS also has Anzalone as an OLB.

Love getting NT, C and G in FAcy!

Thanks...mocks are fun but yeah just speculation lol

Anzalone is 230 lbs he's a 4-3 ILb when healthy and I believe that's where he played at during the senior bowl.

Sportrac has a market value of 4 yrs $95 million so it will depend on yrs...I don't see him getting $130 million but I do see him getting a front loaded deal. They could flip 1st but I honestly don't think they will get more than that with teams knowing he most likely is a FA in a yr.

I'm cool with giving up a comp pick for a talent like Mixon, honestly I don't think there will be drama if he performs it all goes away, just ask tyrekk hill.

The OL draft class is pretty s**tty and your not gonna get everything in one season
