Sims' Wheel and Deal Mock Offseason

I don't think we will go all out in FA this year but we do add some young pieces to help supplement this roster. When it comes to the draft, I think Lynch and Kyle are smart with their picks and figure out a way to rebuild this roster as much as possible in their first year. With this offseason, our rebuild will be a lot quicker.

Free Agents:

Zach Brown – OLB (BUF) 5 years/$45 million
Andre Ellington – RB (AZ) 3 years / $13 million
Brian Hoyer – QB (CHI) 2 years / $18 million
Dion Sims – TE (MIA) 4 years / $20 million
Patrick DiMarco – FB (ATL) 3 years / $12 million

Re-sign:

WR Jeremy Kerley 2 years / $8 million
NT Glen Dorsey 2 years / $10 million
K Phil Dawson 2 years / $6 million
RB Shaun Draughn 2 years / $2.5 million
QB Colin Kaepernick 2 years / $16 million

Trade: our 4th, 5th and WAS 5th (188 points) to MIN for their second 3rd and 6th (191 points)

Trade: BUF 5th and our 6th (66 points) to TEN for their 4th (66 points)

1st round - (BUF) – WR Corey Davis Western Michigan: #1 WR we have missed for years
2nd round – OG Forrest Lamp WKU: Starts at LG immediately
2nd round – (BUF) – DT Caleb Brantley FLA: Stout interior DL. Causes problems in the backfield.
3rd round (PHI) –QB Nathan Peterman PITT: Perfect QB for Kyle's system. We will address this position for good next year with our two first round picks
3rd round (MIN) – DE Dewuane Smoot ILL: Pass rusher off the edge
4th round (TEN) – OT Eric Magnuson MICH: Athletic T that will thrive in Kyle's outside zone scheme. Staley's replacement in a few years.
4th round COMP: OLB Alex Anzalone FLA: Gamer. Not going to wow anyone with his measurables but the kid is a baller and is constantly around the football.
5th round (PHI) - WR K.D. Cannon BAY: Speed demon that can make plays from anywhere on the field.
6th round (MIN) – RB Jamaal Williams BYU: Bruiser back that will grind out the tough yards down the stretch.
6th round (DEN) MLB Ben Boulware CLEM: Leader, gamer and will be a special teams stud to start his career. Will provide solid depth behind Bowman
7th round (CLE) – DE Bryan Cox Jr: Solid depth at the LDE position.
7th round – CB Desmond Lawrence UNC: Long, lengthy Cornerback

Like your draft, but spending kind of high on Ellington+DiMarco+ Hoyer. They will not get those kind of average salaries, and Kap needs to go. Why pay 17 million a year for Hoyer+Kap? I'd rather bring in Schaub for like 3-4 million, and draft 1 or 2 QB's to be behind him. If we draft one, then we can resign Ponder for the minimum to be the 3rd string QB. We're not going to be very good next year, so we might as well bring in cheap stop gap players, while we try to develop the young guys.

We need to bring in 1 elite guy on D, to get this thing trending in the right direction. If we could get B. WIlliams or Ingram, then that would be the start to having a solid young D going forward. Other than that, I like what you did. Here's to hoping some how Cleveland falls in love with a QB at number 1, or someone trades up to number 1 to get a QB, thinking that we might draft that QB at number 2. Thus letting Garrett slip to us. I know it's a long shot, but Garrett would solve a lot of what we need going forward.

If we can land those three for cheaper, I'd love it even more. I do think as a 2-14 team we will have to overpay a little bit at some point but maybe with the reputation of the new regime, that alone will be good enough to get FAs here. I originally had Hoyer with Peterman and Webb being drafted in the 3rd and 4th round but it's no guarantee that Kap will be gone if he is willing to sign for less and if he is, there isn't a better option available despite a lot of fan's personal thoughts on him. People were saying Denver was his best location last year because they have talent, a good offensive system and a strong running game and then we hire Shanahan with the same system, we in theory add talent and push out a strong running game and all of the sudden Kap doesn't fit here but he fit in Denver?

I agree with bringing in 1 elite guy on Defense but I went with the Pro Bowler Zach Brown as that one. I think Williams gets retained and Poe finds his way on another 3-4 team that is more competitive.

Hopefully Garrett is there at #2 and we can figure something else out
I here you, Brown does fit in well, and beefy NT types generally can be had in the mid rounds. Is Ian Williams dead or something? I know he was hurt last year, but if he can pass a physical, I'd be looking to bring him back on a low contract with incentives. We got lucky Buckner slid to us last year, now hopefully the MB crush of Garrett can slide to us this year. Granted it's only 1 pick, but man I'm going to be sweating bullets when the Browns are on the clock come draft day.

Hahaha I'll be the same way. Hopefully Hue falls in love with a QB and absolutely has to have his guy.

Williams would be perfect but I really like Brantley. I think Brantley will be a day 1 starter and really help out vs the run. He is constantly in the backfield either making the play or causing havoc for someone else to make the play. He will be solid on a 4-3 team, even as a rookie

Not sure how I feel paying 4m/year to a fb
FAS are different but 3 picks of your 1-4 rounds are the same as what NY85 posted earlier today.
That 4 million a year for a FB seems a little high to me as well. I honestly want us to focus on adding 1 or 2 elite players in general to this team through FA. Ideally they'd be coming off their rookie deal, thus they'd be young enough to still be elite through out their 4-5 year deal we give them. It will be interesting to see who gets tagged before FA, that will dictate where we can go in FA, and thus adjust our draft strategy, depending on who we sign.
Like the free agents (and realistic) however, like others said. Overpaying. I would rather sign Tamme/Toililolo for less over Simms.

Kap needs to go.

I have Davis and Peterman as the only 2 same players in my first 6 picks...my 7th pick is the same so 3 of my 12 total picks are the same

A little over the top with all these trades. Draughn and Dion Sims ae 2 signings I could live without. Neither will make a difference. I'm curious to why in the world you have Tank starting over Lynch? And I think you should have them make a move for a free agent CB. No way should Brock be starting again. Robinson is fragile and we haven't seen Redmond play yet. I mean you have a 7th round pick coming in and being the primary back up for Brock. That's a clear example of the lack of talent in that unit.
Where not paying a kicker more than the min, 4 million a year for a kicker I don see that,
We are not paying a kicker more than the min, 4 million a year for a kicker I don see that,
Trying to keep track of all those trades made my head hurt
And y'all thought 3 years $12 million was over paying for a FB lol
