Despite heavy spending during FA, I think the actual selections themselves suggest Lynch and Shanny will truly be building this team through the draft. Still plenty of needs in this draft, so I attempted to prioritize based on need, depth at each position, and availability in next years draft and offseason.
As with most mock drafts, this will be probably be considered more as a "semi-realistic wishlist" as opposed to an "uber-realistic mock."
Scenario 1: After F/A, the browns now appear to have a top 5 OL on paper. Having missed on QB over and over for years, they are now ready to select one first over all.
R1P2: Myles Garret, DE: our biggest need for this year, and biggest need for the future second to QB, gets filled by the best player in the draft.
R2P34: Forest Lamp, G: Rebuilding a team starts in the trenches. In order for Shanny to implement his offensive system, he's going to need to put together his own OLINE. Olinemen are scarce in this draft, so we need to take one early. This move allows us to kick Zane Beadles to center, likely upgrading that position as well.
R3P66: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR: Big bodied, physical WR with better speed than anticipated. More of a possession receiver who will learn behind Garcon and become a consistently reliable force from the flanker position.
R4P109: Nathan Peterman, QB: I do believe we go for Kirk Cousins next year, but wouldn't hurt to take someone who seems to be an ideal candidate based on what Kyle looks for in his QB.
R4P143: Jon Toth, C: Potential center of the future. Cerebral guy from a zone scheme. Also can fill in at G and T.
R5P146: Joe Mixon, RB: In my opinion, best RB of the draft. Can do it all and would be the perfect fit in Shanny's scheme. Obvious character concerns, but considering his incident was at age 18, and were taking a flyer this late in the draft, its worth it.
R5P161: Alex Anzalone, LB: Talented player who can fly all around the field, drops because of injury concerns. Our LB corps is seriously lacking both in impact players and depth. Alex can play at Will or Mike.
R6P186: Eddie Vanderdoes, DT: Earl Mitchell is not the answer at 1T, seeing as to how he's more penetrator than run stuffer. Vanderdoes is the exact opposite. He falls this far because of his inability to disrupt the pocket and get the passer, but he can take a double team and clog up running lanes, and that's exactly what this team needs after last years miserable run defense. We can generate pressure from other spots on the line, and wont need Vanderdoes in with subpackages anyway.
R6P202: Josh Reynolds, WR: Shanny and his QB will need a guy that they can just throw the ball up to and trust that he can come down with the catch. Josh Reynolds is undersized and is definitely not your #1 receiver, but as a threat in the redzone or to win 50/50 balls, he can excel because of his length and body control.
R7P219: Xavier Woods, SS: Reid is probably on his way out after this year. I have hopes for Tartt, but he admittedly has yet to flash as a long term starter. Tartt will be given every chance to succeed in this new scheme, but Woods will be good insurance.
Scenario 2: Myles Garret gets taken at #1 over all. Right now, it looks like a trade down is unlikely, but every year, just before draft, QBs start to dart up the board. No one was talking about Goff and Wentz going at one and two over all, with both teams having given up the farm to acquire them. Bears need a QB. Jacksonville has spent a ridiculous amount of money in FA on defense the last 2 years, and, combined with their defensive draft selections, have a top unit on paper. They need a quarterback to make it all worth it; Bortles is not taking them anywhere. Jets, Cleveland, Washington, and Houston are all thirsty for QB. Chargers and AZ should both start thinking about their QB of the future. In this scenario we trade back with the Bills for their 1st, second, and 3rd. We don't get a pick next year because of the perceived quality of this year's QB crop. Buffalo did just resign Tyrod Taylor to a restructured contract, but it is obvious they do not see him staying long term. They get a head start on Tyrod's replacement by jumping SF, CHI, and JAX to ensure they secure their 1st choice at QB.
R1P10: Corey Davis, WR: Possibly a bit high for a wr, but given his talent, and our huge need for a #1 WR, this is not a reach for the 49ers.
R2P34: Charles Harris, DE: Flashed in college 1 on 1 vs opposing teams LT from the 5T and occasionally from further outside. Should be good for double digit sacks, something we haven't had in too long of a while.
R2P44: Forest Lamp, G: Rebuilding a team starts in the trenches. In order for Shanny to implement his ooensive system, he's going to need to put together his own OLINE. Olinemen are scarce in this draft, so we need to take one early. This move allows us to kick Zane Beadles to center, likely upgrading that position as well.
R3P66: Fabian Moreau, CB: Would never last this long in any other draft that doesn't have 10+ day talents at CB. Long, fast, physical. Will make moving Ward to FS inconsequential.
R3P75: Evan Engram, TE: If Kirk Cousins is our guy for 2018, it only makes sense to replicate one of his best weapons in Reed. Engram is a mismatch nightmare, and a valuable weapon for a defense that relies heavily on taking advantage of the opposing D's short comings. The speed to compliment a corps of Garcon, Corey Davis, and Vance McDonald.
R4P109: Anthony Walker Jr, LB: If we were to assume Bowman is coming back healthy and ready to play, we'd still have a sizeable hole at LB. Given the question mark at Bowman's status, a player who can fill in like Walker becomes even more important. I see our LB corps, if healthy, as a unit with good situational depth players, but no true star. Anthony Walker most likely won't be a star, but could help us this year with a "strength by committee" approach, allowing us to rotate guys and keep legs fresh.
R4P143: Jon Toth, C: Potential center of the future. Cerebral guy from a zone scheme. Also can fill in at G and T.
R5P146: Ryan Switzer, WR: The thought of Ryan Switzer in Shanny's offense makes me very, very excited. When paired up with Corey Davis and Garcon, we have a trio of immaculate route runners who will be very hard to cover.
R5P161: Joe Mixon, RB (Kareem Hunt, RB): Either player will be the second back that Shanny needs to compliment Hyde and replicate what he did in ATL. Mixon is the better player, but if he doesn't drop this low, Hunt will not only be serviceable in the same role, but should excel with his ability to catch out the back field and patiently find the hole.
Goal here was to plug the most immediate needs on defense while giving Shanny everything he needs to build his offense from the ground up. Kirk Cousins would be ready to plug and play next year, and we could be looking at a top offense.
QB: Brian Hoyer
RB: Carlos Hyde
RB2: Joe Mixon (Kareem Hunt)
FB: Kyle Jusczcyk
LT: Joe Staley
LG: Forest Lamp
C: Zane Beadles, Jon Toth
RG: Joshua Garnett
RT: Trenton Brown
WR: Corey Davis, Pierre Garcon, Jeremy Kerley, Marquise Goodwin, Eric Rogers, Ryan Switzer, Josh Reynolds
TE: Vance McDonald, Evan Engram
RDE: Charles Harris, Aaron Lynch, Tank Carradine
RDT: Arik Armstead
LDT: Eddie Vanderdoes
LDE: DeForest Buckner
DLINE: Ronald Blair, Quinton Dial, Earl Mitchell
SLB: Ahmad Brooks, Eli Harold, Anthony Walker Jr.
MLB: Navarro Bowman
WLB: Malcolm Smith, Ray Ray Armstrong
CB1: Rashard Robinson, Dontae Johnson
CB2: Fabian Moreau, Keith Reaser
NCB: Will Redmond
FS: Jimmie Ward
SS: Jaquiskii Tartt, Xavier Woods
Targets in F/A 2018:
Kirk Cousins, QB: Shanny's guy. After this F/A and draft, he's the piece to elevate us over the top.
Terrell Pryor, WR: 6'3", 225lbs, 4.3 speed. Solid route running for a 1st year WR, and had a 1000 yard season catching passes from 4-5 different QBs, none of which have starting talent, and with no other weapons defense meaning he went against the other teams best CB with safety help every single week. Will be in his prime still as we are ready to make our playoff push. If the draft selections develop as expected, an offense of Corey Davis, Terrell Pryor, Jeremy Kerley, Pierre Garcon, Ryan Switzer, Eric Rodgers, Marquise Goodwin, Josh Reynolds, Vance McDonald, Evan Engram, Carlos Hyde, Joe Mixon ( Kareem Hunt), and Kyle Jusczcyk will be literally impossible to defend.
Targets in 2018 Draft:
Martez Ivey, OT: 5 star college recruit, #1 OT prospect in the country, with some saying of all time. Has played interior thus far, but still has all the intangibles to develop into Joe Staley's replacement.
SLB: Our "serviceable" players at the SAM only continue to get older. Will need someone with more impact.
WLB: RayRay and Malcolm Smith are fine fits at Will, but again, roster should be in great shape to aim for an upgrade.
MLB: Bowman ability to stay healthy, and continue to play at the same level after 2 back to back devastating injuries leaves question marks at MLB.
DE: Depending on AA's development, and Lynch's 2017 performance, we may be in need for a starter at LDE and depth at RDE.
DT: Vanderdoes will fit our need, but it wouldn't hurt to have a higher impact player who can generate some pashrush on top of the usual run stopping duties. Depth is also lacking at the 1T.
Players I like in this draft that I had to skip on:
Solomon Thomas, DE/DT: Would be a perfect fit at LDE/DT. Would also eliminate the need to target the position in 2018. However, I couldn't envision a scenario where we could still acquire him after a trade down, and I'd rather get the extra picks while fulfilling need at 1WR. We may not have a game changer like Thomas on the roster, but I still have faith in AA at 3T and DeFo at 5T during base downs, with both inside during nickel being a productive lineup. As stated earlier, I wanted to use this draft/FA too help Shanny implement his system and make the acquisition of Kirk next year seamless.
Malik Hooker, FS: I had previously mocked Malik Hooker at 2, but I think Jimmie Ward moving to FS helps our roster as a whole more than Hooker does at FS. I think Hooker will be a better single high center fielder than Ward, but I think the difference between the two is negligible, when you consider we'd be able to turn the trade down into a starter at CB in this deep CB draft. It came down to Jimmie Ward + Fabian Moreau > Malik Hooker + Tramaine Brock.
Marshon Lattimore, CB: Deep CB draft. I see the difference between Fabian Moreau and Marshon Lattimore to be less than the difference between Corey Davis and a 3rd round receiver.
JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR: I'd love to have him AND Corey Davis, but just couldn't justify two WR in the first 2-3 rounds. Still think he'd develop beautifully behind Garcon.
Tyus Bowser, SLB: He is darting up draft boards. He will go too high for me to feel comfortable. I think Ahmad Brooks can be serviceable at SLB for a year or two and find it more valuable to fill other needs. This was a hard one for me to not fit into my mock/wishlist.
Hasson Reddick, LB: Too many needs to take a LB in the first round. Will have to rely on 2018 to replenish the LB corps.
Taco Charlton/Takkarist McKinley/Tim Williams, DE: I prefer Charles Harris, but if not available, I'll plug in one of these three instead.
Patrick Mahomes II/Nathan Peterman, QB: I want a QB bad, but I'm just going to remain patient in the wait for Kirk Cousins, and fill other needs this draft.

I wish scenario 1 was going to be a viable option but I highly doubt it.

Either way, good mocks. Version 2 would be better IMO if you went with a developmental QB instead of Switzer. Still, filled a lot of holes especially in the middle of the line and out wide plus a pass rusher. Well thought out.

Hasson Reddick, LB: Too many needs to take a LB in the first round. Will have to rely on 2018 to replenish the LB corps
ur joking right LB is where we need most of our help and Reddick will help ALOT he has some good speed & coving skills he will bring a much need toughness to our defence...I'd take him at #2 if we couldn't get a good trade diwn offer...Reddick will be tha best LB in this draft...

Between bowman, Malcolm, RayRay, Brock, Eli, Ahmad, lynch and Anthony walker, we'd be fine. Will exchange a lb for a cb in sub packages. I am holding out hope that we sign Zach Brown, however.

Am I the only one that thinks Eli Harold may be our longterm answer at Sam LB? With Smith able to to play both Mike and Will and Ray Ray able to play Will. Bowman healthy gives us a decent LB core at least short term. We could upgrade any position group absolutely but to me Leo, WR1, QB all need attention before LB.
Nice work

I agree. I think our biggest need at LB is depth behind bowman

I don't like the guard in round 2! My reasons being he will be a backup we can't really afford to draft backup players early we have to draft some starters! CBs are about 3 rounds deep at starter and we're going to need 1 or 2 if we move Ward! I don't think Robinson is ready or sturdy enough to start full time.

Would fap. You have a real grasp of not only our team needs but system fits as well. Well done. I think Lamp goes in the mid to late first though.
