There are a bunch of good CB's available in the 3rd or 4th round like Witherspoon from Colorado or Sutton from Tennessee or Kazee from San Diego St. Good call on Cunningham who will need to bulk up to succeed at the next level. Joe Williams is listed as a 7th rounder/FA on CBS Sports list of prospects.
yup everyone and their but but Seattle players do this and are this size stuff..if our DC is looking to copy their blue print then we sure as heck won't be drafting a CB early.
very true. Seattle finds their CBs at the end of the draft. Strong guys with high fotball IQs and ability ingest a copious amount of amphetamines at once

Sounds like Grant Cohn's latest mock...I shot it full of holes on his website. This and his FA choices were in some cases just absurd. Had the Niners taking some old guys (35 +) who've seen much better days. I really don't know where his head's at (well, maybe I do, but I'll keep it clean).

Not interested in Lattimore at 2... same way I'm not interested in another DE in the Armstead/Buckner mold.
BPA is one thing, but on a team swiss cheesed with holes, it makes no sense doubling down on positions where we already have 3 or 4 high round rookies from previous drafts who still have reasonable chances of being good or even great players.
Depth is a luxury for playoff teams, fill the biggest holes first.
Quite like the rest of the mock though.

Cohn's recommended FA signings were mostly older, but he has been complaining that the Niners signed too many "old guys" in their early 30's. The guy talks out of ass and can't give the Niners full credit for anything they do right. Try to avoid reading his articles because he's a s**t disturber in the Skip Bayless/Glenn Dickey mold.

Here's my thoughts on a #1 pick. Which player will instantly impact the positions around him?
WR: I just feel a WR makes the least impact around him, especially when the QB is lacking. Will the WR help the RB or other WR's? In most cases, for a rookie, no. We can get similar talent after the #1 pick.
OL: yes, a top OL can definitely impact the entire production of the OL, RB, QB, and WR.
DL: No. I just don't see how getting a top DL will impact multiple positions. Maybe if we get a monster athletic NT, but we already have seen that most teams that draft a DL see an aura of an effect but it isn't a sharp game-impact affect.
Pass Rusher: yes. Getting a top passrusher can create havoc in all phases of the defense and weaken the opponent's offense.
CB: medium affect.
FS: medium to high affect.
MLB: medium to high.
QB: hell yes
Considering that we have the #2 pick and knowing that Kyle knows his offensive players and hoping Lynch knows his defensive players, then I would be happy with them picking up any of the bold. If we were drafting a little lower, then I could go MLB, FS or CB as well.

Just kidding, nice analogy. Plus it had the bonus of making me laugh hard.

Think about Kyle Shanahan's philosophy. The foundation of his offense is all about running the ball and play action. Other than NE, I don't know any other coach who maximizes the ability of the RB than Billacheat and Shanahan.
So, which area of our team do you think Kyle will try to strengthen the most? Do you think he will allow himself as OC to fail before he allows the DC to fail?
Remember, the foundation of his offense begins with versatility from the backfield. Has Hyde shown versatility? Not yet. Do you think Kyle is going to put all his eggs with Hyde? I don't think so. Hyde is a top back, but he has shown not to be reliable.

I mean, I'm a big proponent of them going offense at #2 simply because I don't think Saleh is going to be our long-term DC. Let's face it. He's a rookie DC who learned under Carroll and Bradley for very little time. It's essentially the same s**t that we had with Jim O'Neil learning under Pettine and Rex Ryan.
But at the same time, just because I want them to go Quarterback, Wide Receiver, RB, or OL at #2 doesn't mean its the best decision for the team. And unfortunately, Kyle seems to be a big believer in BPA for the draft.
So yeah, actually. I do believe Kyle is going to set himself up to fail as an OC at least in year 1 of the rebuild. He doesn't seem to care that we have little talent offensively and more of our talent is on the defense.
Obviously I would love for them to go Quarterback, but as the days go by, I just don't see it. They are probably going to focus on rebuilding the defense with a rookie DC running a Seattle scheme that requires a lot of talent in the secondary.

That's the thing, knowing that we can get Cousins next year, Kyle can immediately strengthen the run game, which is the foundation of his offense.

I saw this in the Press Democrat and thought it was very different from most of the mocks I've seen.
I really like the first 5 picks.
Thoughts??
All depends on what ward is truly better at. FS or CB. If the latter, Hooker please.
