I'm not saying Golladay is the next Hopkins, but there are times when he "looks" like him (mostly due to his frame, and where he's making plays).

I'm not trying to hijack dudes mock. But all of these comparisons are out there. And I'm not saying just you. Talking about the whole board as a whole.

Now if you want to say..... this guy is our next (insert SEA player here) then I get it. He's going to play the position (insert name here played) buthe according to this board (fans EVVERYWHERE in generall I imagine) thinks every player is going to be a STUD or HOF'er.

It's ok to just be good and start in this league hopefully with a pro bowl or two.

But not EVERYONE is going to be great in this draft or on our team.

Again not solely directed at you. Or just our fans really. But it's one of those things that drives me crazy.

Sorry OP, as your were

He's been compared to Earl Thomas and Ed Reed.

Overall, I really like the draft. I do have some critiques and concerns.

1. Too much hype on Hooker. I think he will be good but he will not be Earl Thomas. Thomas can do it all while Hooker is more of a pass defending and make the safe tackle safety. He will not blow anyone up like Thomas does frequently. Either way, I won't complain about the pick but I will have realistic expectations.

2. No Kelly no matter what. I don't want him even if an UDFA. No ACL picks and nobody that contradicts the type of culture the team is trying to instill.

I get the Hooker criticisms. I really do. But I also see him as the piece that starts this whole defensive remake.

I see Kelly as no risk, high reward. He pulls any more Kelly-stuff, he's gone. He grows up? We might have the steal of the draft.
I'm a little more conventional, and different orders....but still, really nice work lobo. I' m a straight solomon guy, if we don't trade Down. If we do, then I want again a more traditional WR Willams. And we most likely have to move a bit back into rd 2 to get peterman. Once top 4 QBs are gone , Peterman is on The block to go next. At that point I really like your mock, from there on out. Problem is ,hooker is gone by then, but Lawson might still be there.

I reiterate, really nice job, well done, Lobo.

Thanks pas, much appreciated. As for where they go, I just went off CBS' big board. I could definitely see a lot of these guys going higher.

I also get the love affair with Thomas. The dude is going to be good. I'm placing a lot of value in an elite Single High FS. I think Hooker is that. But if we got Thomas, I'll be plenty happy with it.

And again for the record, I'm in the "trade down" camp.

The big risk is that he's clean for 2-3 years, we commit to him as our starting QB, and then he threatens to shoot up a club again and we're without a QB. It's not as black and white as saying he's either a stud or he acts up and we cut him right away. It could be more like what happened with Aldon Smith where the guy keeps doing stupid s**t.

Excellent point. We've all seen the damage done when you hand the reigns to someone who isn't mature enough to handle it.

The coaching staff and FO would definitely have to make sure that he's pat all that, that he's matured. See who he surrounds himself with, and how he handles adversity and all that before crowning him.
Here's my mock using MadDog's Big Board.

1 (2) - Hooker FS
2 (34) - Lawson Elephant (overdrafted)
3 (66) - Peterman QB
4 (109)- Golladay WR
4 (143)- Hill CB
5 (146)- Smoot Elephant/SAM
5 (161)- Tu'i NT
6 (198)- Brown MIKE/SAM
6 (202)- Henderson RB
7 (219)- Kelly QB

I absolutely love Malik Hooker but with Ward moving to FS, I just can't us taking him at 2. If we take a DB I think it will be Lattimore. He's a true shut down corner and fills more of a need for our team IMO.

Great break down and insight though on your mock bro

My thoughts as well. If Hooker is that good fine, but it seems to be a lesser need than QB, WR or LB. But you don't ignore an elite talent if that is how Lynch sees Hooker.

I don't see a QB, WR, or LB worth the #2 pick. This mock assumes Garrett is off the board, and we can't trade down.

Thanks. And yeah, we differ on FS vs CB. In this scheme, a FS with elite range > CB. If Ward can do that ( I haven't seen anything from him that makes me think he can ) then Hooker wouldn't be needed, and I'd rather go with Thomas. (Of course I'd rather trade down altogether, but that's another topic.)

Again, it's a 7th round pick. Very low risk, possibility of very high reward. If Shanny doesn't see the maturity in him to be the FQB, then he won't be. But what if Kelly turns it around? Look out.
