My Mock after carefully analyzing Pro Football Weekly draft guide

1. Derek Barnett- Edge pass rusher, this is my consensus pick at number 2, he has more sacks tackles for loss and tackles than Garrett. He also looked better than Garrett vs Cam Robinson, elite rushers are hard to come by so this is my lock pick for number 2. I am baffled why so many experts want the Stanford product over Barnett.

2. Natahan Peterman QB Pittsburgh- This is my surprise pick. He comes from a pro style offense and I think he fits what the team is looking for. If he progresses they will not sign Kirk Cousins in next off season.

3. Marcus Williams- Safety Utah-

4.a Anthony Walker Jr ILB "will lb: Northwestern

4b Eric Saubert -TE Drake- a "move TE" that will work in Shannahans multiple TE sets

5. Isaac Asiata -OG Utah- has played RT and both guard spots in college, versatile lineman that can also play center if needed

5b Joshua Dobbs QB Tennessee- Surprise, Shanahan is hedging his bets, Dobbs is a engineering major that can pick up his complicated play book. Barkley is the camp fodder, with starter being Hoyer, back up Peterman and Dobbs. This is a qb league, need to develope multiple young talent

6b. Ryan Switzer- WR NC- can play slot, KR PR

6b Corey Clement RB Wisconsin

7- Steven Moore OT California

The theory behind this mock draft is no RB, QB, or safety is worthy of the second slot, so pass rusher it is.

After watching game tapes wild guess that Shannahan falls in love with Peterman and Dobbs, realizing he had no qb's a mere few weeks ago he looks forward to having two raw lumps of clay under contract for 4 years.

Saubert becomes the steal of the draft.

ASIDE from Tennessee's Joshua Dobbs and Wisconsin's Clement this gotta be one of the better mock drafts I've seen all year long.... it's not Excellent, but it's very very solid!!

I'm giving this a A-...

If barnett is a good pick at #12 why is he not a good pick at #2?

If Peterman is a nice pick at #66 why would you lose your mind at #34?
Is that really a question?
Barnett might be a better pass rusher than Garrett and Thomas. Who knows. I want either of the 3 at the number two pick. Remember Barnett broke Reggie whites sack record against good competition. Better competition than Garnett so I like him just as much
I like this mock just not where the players are slotted... Barnett is a good player just not at #2, I'd rather trade that to QB needy teams like the Jets and get couple more picks in return. Peterman is 3rd rounder at best and Switzer is too good of a player and wont get pass the 4th IMO.

wouldn't hate it...I like Barnett not at two though, saying he did well vs Robinson isn't really saying much IMO (Myles was also injured vs Cam this yr). Barnett is just a good football player and in a trade down sure...I have no idea why you're baffled that people prefer Thomas. His numbers trump Barnett in every athletic category plus he's bigger, it's not easy to find a guy who can pass rush from the interior like him....Barnett also has issues in run D. Both good players.

Peterman I love but not at 34 lol...there will be by far more talented players at positions of need with the 34th pick. I like the rest of your picks, don't like waiting until the 6th to get a WR and we already have two slot WRs and spending TWO picks on QB no thanks, I have no idea why you think Kyle falls in love with Dobbs?

Where do you get that Barnett has issues against the run? I only ask because it's complete b******t. Barnett is a flat out better pass rusher than Thomas as well.

Barnett will have a bettet career than garrett because he has constant on-field competitive desire.
Garrett is not as dawg as barnett. Barnett's not as explosive as garrett, but he has more torque--and that counts when you're engaged with an opponent.
On the other hand, barnett does have a small, size challenge coming when he will face nfl tackles, so he will have to get better in order maintain his present production.

Of you want a similar player to compare barnett's play to, look up some old film of a monster named Deacon Jones.

Your comparison for Barnett is a guy who was extremely athletic for his era and had long arms? That's interesting...

I don't get the love for Barnett. He's a great player and probably one of the 10-12 best players in the draft. But he's someone with an extremely high floor and a relatively low ceiling (compared to other first round picks). Barnett has average size and short arms and isn't very athletic. I don't see him ever becoming someone you can build around - he already has great hand usage, so I don't see where he's going to improve which will allow him to maintain his current production. I'd bet on Barnett being productive from day 1, but we're a rebuilding team and need players who can grow into cornerstones for our football team.

Garnett would be the perfect pick for us, but if he's gone, I could see Thomas becoming a pro bowl DE (strongside) or a pro bowl DT if he puts on weight 2-3 years from now. Hooker is another guy who could become a dominant single high safety.

Sorry that's been one of his weaknesses setting the edge vs the run.

He might be a better edge rusher but Thomas is more of a interior pass rusher and much better vs the run overall.

Barnett is one of my favorites, but I couldn't figure out how to get him without over drafting. Of course, if he is that good he can't be over drafted! Nice mock!
