Mock draft version 3.0

FREE AGENT SIGNINGS:

LG- Andrew Norwell, Carolina 6'6, 325
One of the best guards in the game. Plays in a zone scheme in Carolina. We up the contract that Kevin Zeitler got last year from Cleveland to make him the highest paid guard in the league. PFF has him ranked as the 4th best guard with an 87.5 rating.
5 years, 62.5 million, 28 guaranteed.

RB- Dion Lewis (NE) 5'8, 195
He has had an excellent year in NE as a part time back with 803 yards with a 5.2 AVG and 5 rushing TD's as well as 26 catches for 174 yards with an 11.6 AVG and 2 TD's. I think this guy is ready to break out as a full time back. PFF has him at the 2nd best RB in the league with an 89.8 rating. I think he would have a Charlie Garner type of impact here when he signed with us where he averaged 1200 yards rushing and 550 yards receiving in his 2 years.
3 years, 13.5 million, 7 guaranteed

CB- Jonathan Joseph (Houston) 5'11, 200
Experienced vet. Brings stability to a young secondary. Still able to play at a high level.
2 years, 13 million, 7 guaranteed.

WR- Allen Robinson (Jak) 6'3, 211
He takes a one year prove it deal like Alshon Jeffery did to play with Jimmy G. He could immediately slot in as our #1 and give us a fearsome group with Robinson-Garcon-Goodwin-Taylor and give us a nice red zone weapon.
1 year, 10 million, 5 guaranteed.

RT- Austin Pazstor (ATL) 6'7, 308
Experienced backup OT.
2 years, 4 million

C- Ben Garland (ATL) 6'4, 300
3 years, 6 million

**We sign 2 legit starters (Norwell, Lewis) 2 guys who offer huge potential (Joseph, Robinson) and 2 talented backups familiar with this scheme (Garland, Pazstor)

LOSSES:
-Trade Arik Armstead for a 2019 5th round pick
-Trade Eli Harold for a 2019 7th round pick
-Carlos Hyde - Free agent
-Daniel Kilgore - Free agent
-Aaron Lynch - Free agent
-Dontae Johnson - Free agent
-Jimmy Ward - Cut
-Zane Beadles - Cut

**I like Armstead but we dont have a fit for him. He will be traded to a 3-4 team. Ward and his 8.5 million salary are gone. Hyde is a good back but simply isn't a fit. I hate to say it but he would be perfect in Seattle or Oakland for what they want and he will do well there.

RE-SIGN:
- Jimmy Garappolo 5 years, 125 million, 60 guaranteed
- Marquise Goodwin 4 years, 28 million, 16 guaranteed (extend)
- Jaquiski Tartt 5 years, 25 million, 15 guaranteed (Extend)
- Eric Reid 3 years, 9 million, 4.5 guaranteed *I like Reid and hopes he comes back. He can compete with Tartt at SS or Smith at WILL LB.
- Brandon Fusco 2 years, 9 million *Another nice guy to have back. He has played well and at the very least will offer value as a backup.
- Tank Carradine 1 year, 1.5 mil
- Brock Coyle 2 years, 4 mil
- Cassius Marsh 2 years, 2.5 mil

Draft:

1.10- Marcus Davenport, DE, USTA 6'7, 255
He is a legitimate 3 down LEO. He reminds me of Aldon Smith minus the meat-head stuff. He gives us a scary, SCARY D-line that is going to do some damage. Davenport is a former receiver with excellent speed off the edge. He destroys double teams. 4 years in a row drafting D-linemen? Oh well. This line is going to win alot of games for us and make our secondary 10x better than they are and will help to create turnovers. Davenport is only scratching the surface of his potential and when he fiqures it out he will be one of the best pass rushers in the league.
2016- 67 tackles, 10 losses, 6.5 sacks
2017- 55 tackles, 17.5 losses, 8.5 sacks.

2.58- Frank Ragnow, C, Arkansas 6'5, 320
Immediate starter from day 1. Tough. Physical. Mobile. Leader. Love this guy.

3.70- Anthony Averett, CB, Alabama 6'0, 185
The best boundary corner on a stacked Alabama team. Lights out man coverage ability. Learns from Jonathan Joseph and is ready to start in a year.
2017- 40 tackles, 2 losses, 1 INT, 7 passes defensed.

3.71- Jeff Holland, SAM LB, Auburn 6'2, 250
Was Carl Lawson's backup last year and took over for him this year and was even better. Lawson has 20 tackles and 4 sacks this year as a 4th rounder for Cincinatti but I think Holland will provide more. This kid can play.
2017- 43 tackles, 11.5 losses, 8.5 sacks

4.128- Dalton Risner, RT, Kansas St 6'5, 300.
Smart former center. Mobile and fits this scheme.

5.132- Damon Webb, CB/S, Ohio State 5'11, 95
Great senior season with 56 tackles, 4 INT, ans 3 PD. Experienced and versatile

Rounds 6-7 TBD

ROSTER:

QB- Jimmy Garrapolo / CJ Beathard

LT- Joe Staley / Dalton Risner
LG- Andrew Norwell / Laken Tomlinson
C- Frank Ragnow / Ben Garland
RG- Josh Garnett / Brandon Fusco
RT- Trent Brown / Austin Pazstor

*I am hoping Garnett works on his physique and comes in ready to battle in camp. If he is stronger and more mobile he can be a great fit for us. If not, Fusco slides in and does a steady job at RG. Im not sure we extend Brown this offseason. If we want we can do it during the season depending on how his shoulder holds up. Pasztor has experience in this scheme and can start if needed

RB- Dion Lewis / Matt Breida / Joe Williams
FB- Kyle Juszczyk

WR1- Allen Robinson
WR2- Pierre Garcon / Kendrick Bourne
WR3- Marquise Goodwin / Max McCaffery
Slot- Trent Taylor

TE- George Kittle
TE- Garrett Celek

LDE (5T) - Soloman Thomas / Tank Carradine / Ronald Blair
NT (1T) - Sheldon Day / Earl Mitchell / DJ Jones
RDT (3T) - Deforest Buckner
RDE (LEO) - Marcus Davenport / Elvis Dumervil / Cassius Marsh

SAM- Jeff Holland / Dekoda Watson
MIKE- Reuben Foster / Brock Coyle
WILL- Malcolm Smith / Eric Reid

CB- Akhello Witherspoon
CB- Jonathan Joseph
CB- Anthony Averett
Slot- K'waunn Williams
SS- Jaquiski Tartt / Dexter McCoil
FS- Adrian Colbert / Damon Webb

K- Robbie Gould
P- Bradley Pinion

Why not Harold Landry for the first pick?

Im not a fan.

He has not had a good year this year and does most of his damage against weaker right tackles.
I'm on board with most of this. I would personally resign Hyde, and have him and Lewis as a duo.
Davenport that high ??? I honestly don't kno much about him..I love the norwell signing and drafting Ragnow who I think will be the 2nd best interior linemen behind Nelson, idk about signing Lewis and letting Hyde go, I'd rather have Hyde and Brieda then Lewis and Brieda, everything else I'm down with..

You watch. Davenport is going to be a top 15 pick.

Hyde won't be back. Hyde and his smash mouth style is the exact opposite of what Shanahan runs.

Breida has earned a role and will only get better and Lewis fits what Shanahan wants to do. I also haven't given up on Joe Williams yet. Hopefully he has his head on straight and will put in work this year to cure his fumbles and fix his pass protection so he can earn a role here.
Another defensive lineman in the first round AGAIN? I don't like that. We have to go O-line. Protect the future that is Jimmy G.
You lost me at re-sign Eric Reid. When are people going to realize he is a liability in pass defense and is not worth the money.

I signed Norwell to a huge deal and drafted a center in round 2.

What's wrong with this Oline?

LT- Joe Staley / Dalton Risner
LG- Andrew Norwell / Laken Tomlinson
C- Frank Ragnow / Ben Garland
RG- Josh Garnett / Brandon Fusco
RT- Trent Brown / Austin Pazstor

Depth is key and he can play multiple positions.
i just dont like Lewis as a RB1. Really fits in as a 3rd down back. If you keep giving him 20 carries a game, he is going to get hurt before week 12

Josh Garnett and Frank Ragnow starting. Not sure I trust a late 2nd round pick offensive lineman to start as a rookie especially given people have said Shanahan prefers veteran centers. And I know I don't trust Garnett as a starter even though he's lost a little weight. I don't know if adding one player solves our offensive line, even if it's Norwell. Ideally, we'd add Norwell and Nelson if he's available and bring in a free agent center.
I'd be 100% ecstatic if it went down like this. I've disagreed with you on many topics on this forum, but we clearly agree on how to build this niner team for future success.

Maybe Ragnow struggles a bit his first year. Who cares. You got a veteran backup in FA, Ragnow is still an immediate upgrade over Kilgore, and has a chance to develop into a special player.

Kudos, your mock is almost as good as mine
Keep thinking about a rookie push starter to challenge Kilgore.
