JG's stats improved across the board except one area...sacks allowed, QB hits and pressures.

Plus, how cool would it be to have a running game where our RB didn't have to dodge 3 defenders in the backfield every time?

Build the trenches.

There is this thing called free agency used to add starters :)

Even with Nelson, there are two positions on the OL that need major upgrading. Even two positions will be tough to fix in FA alone. Trying to get all three new starters in FA seems much too difficult. Protecting JG is #1 priority now. Part of that is having not only better pass protection but more running room.

This is a pre free agency mock doe?
People don't like drafting Oline high because it is A very unsexy pick. Draft a Lineman early well that's boring. People need to remember one of the reasons we were good during the Harbaugh era was because we drafted to O lineman in the first round the year before Harbaugh. Boring first round I agree but it was much needed. We have to protect our franchise QB. Strong o line means better passing game better run game.

A good QB makes the Oline 10x better than they are.

Add a starting guard (Justin Pugh) and watch a slimmed down 305 pound Josh Garnett dominate. Sign a few depth players (Allen Barbre and Ben Garland) and draft a young tackle. Re-sign Kilgore who the coaches and Jimmy G like and we are set.

LT- Joe Staley / Alex Kappa
LG- Justin Pugh / Laken Tomlinson
C- Daniel Kilgore / Ben Garland
RG- Josh Garnett / Erik Magnunson
RT- Trent Brown/ Allen Barbre

True, but the Colts' phone would ring off the hook if this happened, no way they get Rosen or Darnold at #4

I don't know about that. A good line will make a good QB that much better. There are always exceptions to the rule IE Rodgers or B. Sanders. But it is kind of tough to think not to mention throw the ball when you are running for your life.

SACKS ALLOWED
Before Garoppolo: 35 (26th)
After Garoppolo: 8 (27th)
Total: 43 (21st)

So, it seems pretty obvious what our area of weakness is...the OL...still giving up sacks, hits and pressures at an alarming rate no matter who's at QB.

i agree. #1 priority should be keeping garappolo clean and healthy. If he could pick apart a defense with a turnstile O-line, who 4/5 probably wont be starting in 2018, imagine what he could do with a top 5 O-line. He would be unstoppable.

Tbh, I think it's pretty possible Baker ends up being their guy. Rosen has said he doesn't want to play there. Darnold was a turd in his bowl game.
Giants need o-line not QB
My first thought was the Vikings won't be picking 32nd.

They might never get a better chance to get their next franchise QB though
