On defense - we have lot of talent on DL and at safety position. CB and LB positions need to be improved and of course our pass-rush is average at best. Our focus in FA has to be pass-rush, offensive weapons and protection for Jimmy G.
Major Re-signings:
1. Jimmy Garoppolo - 5 year 110M (55M guaranteed)
2. Eric Reid - Played really well in the 2nd half of the season. Need a veteran in the secondary. 4 years 20m
3. Trent Brown - Extension 5 year 45m
4. Marquise Goodwin - Extension 4 year 20m
Major Free Agency signings:
1. Weston Richburg (Center) - Kilgore is average. Need to improve this position. Richburg isn't happy how Giants put him on IR even though he was soon to be medically cleared. He is a very good young Center. With Garnett returning, Guard isn't the biggest priority.
2. Allen Robinson (WR) - We need to add a big tall WR to score more TDs in the red-zone. Got hurt last year and 2016 was only decent but in 2015 he was unstoppable. Put him with a QB like Jimmy G and I believe he can be one of the most productive WRs in the league.
3. Trent Murphy (DE): Perfect fit for our DL. Fast and big...and will be ideal opposite Thomas.
4. Jerry Attaochu (DE): Loved him as a prospect in the draft couple of years ago. Ideally a 3-4 DE but excellent in passing situations as 4-3 DE. Has been injury prone but when healthy he has been good. Would be perfect as a pass-rushing specialist.
5. Anthony Hitchens (LB): Really good LB who can play inside or outside. Great against the run and is more than competent in the passing game. Dallas will franchise Lawrence and Hitchens will likely test the FA. Would be a tackling machine behind our DL.
NFL Draft:
1. Browns: Sam Darnold QB (They can't pass up a QB this year)
2. Giants: Josh Rosen QB (Eli is almost done...time to get another franchise QB ready)
3. Colts: Orlando Brown OT (McDaniels will first focus on protecting Luck imho)
4. Browns (trade with Redskins): Josh Allen QB (Cousins is gone to the Bills...)
5. Broncos: Baker Mayfield QB (He's pro-ready and can lead the Broncos to playoffs in weak division)
6. Jets: Lamar Jackson QB (Finally get a QB to get every one excited...faster and better version of Michael Vick)
7. Bucs: Bradley Chubb DE (Bucs land the best defensive player in the draft at 7)
8. Bears: Derwin James/Minkah Fitzpatrick S (Bears win with defense. Plenty of WRs available in rd. 2)
9. Niners: Saquon Barkley RB
Running backs drop...and 49ers land not only the best RB in the class by far...but also the best receiver in the draft. Niners give Jimmy G the best offensive weapon they can possibly get in 2018 by drafting Saquon. Will make the 49ers offense truly multi-dimensional and unpredictable.
(2) 58th: Tarvarus McFadden CB - Long, fast, and physical. Could be gone by our pick but draft positions for CBs are extremely fluid due to so much talent in this draft. Other options: Nick Nelson/Mike Hughes
(3) 70th: Will Hernandez OG - Was terrific run-blocker for UTEP and solid pass-blocker. Very strong and aggressive 330lb blocker. Another option: Isaiah Wynn
(3) 74th: Desmond Harrison OT - Would go higher if not for a failed drug test. Ideal replacement for Staley at LT in couple years.
(4) 126: Sione Teuhema OLB - Even with Malcolm Smith returning and adding Hitchens in FA - we need depth at the position.
Add more depth for CBs, Center/Guard, and Linebacker with remaining picks.
