4ML's 4 rounds Mock 1.0 (Saquon falls)

Really excited for this off-season. Very crucial months ahead and I'm excited to see what our FO will do. IMO - it's very important that we re-sign Jimmy G and give him weapons to truly become a top 5 QB in this league. This also means good protection.

On defense - we have lot of talent on DL and at safety position. CB and LB positions need to be improved and of course our pass-rush is average at best. Our focus in FA has to be pass-rush, offensive weapons and protection for Jimmy G.

Major Re-signings:
1. Jimmy Garoppolo - 5 year 110M (55M guaranteed)
2. Eric Reid - Played really well in the 2nd half of the season. Need a veteran in the secondary. 4 years 20m
3. Trent Brown - Extension 5 year 45m
4. Marquise Goodwin - Extension 4 year 20m

Major Free Agency signings:
1. Weston Richburg (Center) - Kilgore is average. Need to improve this position. Richburg isn't happy how Giants put him on IR even though he was soon to be medically cleared. He is a very good young Center. With Garnett returning, Guard isn't the biggest priority.
2. Allen Robinson (WR) - We need to add a big tall WR to score more TDs in the red-zone. Got hurt last year and 2016 was only decent but in 2015 he was unstoppable. Put him with a QB like Jimmy G and I believe he can be one of the most productive WRs in the league.
3. Trent Murphy (DE): Perfect fit for our DL. Fast and big...and will be ideal opposite Thomas.
4. Jerry Attaochu (DE): Loved him as a prospect in the draft couple of years ago. Ideally a 3-4 DE but excellent in passing situations as 4-3 DE. Has been injury prone but when healthy he has been good. Would be perfect as a pass-rushing specialist.
5. Anthony Hitchens (LB): Really good LB who can play inside or outside. Great against the run and is more than competent in the passing game. Dallas will franchise Lawrence and Hitchens will likely test the FA. Would be a tackling machine behind our DL.

NFL Draft:

1. Browns: Sam Darnold QB (They can't pass up a QB this year)
2. Giants: Josh Rosen QB (Eli is almost done...time to get another franchise QB ready)
3. Colts: Orlando Brown OT (McDaniels will first focus on protecting Luck imho)
4. Browns (trade with Redskins): Josh Allen QB (Cousins is gone to the Bills...)
5. Broncos: Baker Mayfield QB (He's pro-ready and can lead the Broncos to playoffs in weak division)
6. Jets: Lamar Jackson QB (Finally get a QB to get every one excited...faster and better version of Michael Vick)
7. Bucs: Bradley Chubb DE (Bucs land the best defensive player in the draft at 7)
8. Bears: Derwin James/Minkah Fitzpatrick S (Bears win with defense. Plenty of WRs available in rd. 2)
9. Niners: Saquon Barkley RB
Running backs drop...and 49ers land not only the best RB in the class by far...but also the best receiver in the draft. Niners give Jimmy G the best offensive weapon they can possibly get in 2018 by drafting Saquon. Will make the 49ers offense truly multi-dimensional and unpredictable.

(2) 58th: Tarvarus McFadden CB - Long, fast, and physical. Could be gone by our pick but draft positions for CBs are extremely fluid due to so much talent in this draft. Other options: Nick Nelson/Mike Hughes

(3) 70th: Will Hernandez OG - Was terrific run-blocker for UTEP and solid pass-blocker. Very strong and aggressive 330lb blocker. Another option: Isaiah Wynn

(3) 74th: Desmond Harrison OT - Would go higher if not for a failed drug test. Ideal replacement for Staley at LT in couple years.

(4) 126: Sione Teuhema OLB - Even with Malcolm Smith returning and adding Hitchens in FA - we need depth at the position.

Add more depth for CBs, Center/Guard, and Linebacker with remaining picks.

Will Hernandez is about 25 pounds roo heavy for Shanahan. Won't be happening
Lol you said McFadden is physical. Dudes about as soft as it gets
Chubb has a better chance at slipping than saquon.
Awesome offseason. Maybe swap Hernandez for another G
And do we really want any more guys who failed drug tests??

Will Hernandez is actually quick for his size but I like Isaiah Wynn as well and is very versatile.

Yes - when he's in press coverage - he's quite good and physical. I understand he's not a very good tackler but that's an issue with lot of CBs.

I really like Mike Hughes and Nick Nelson if you don't like McFadden.

Did anyone think Crabtree was gonna fall to us?

This is a really deep RB class - too early to say that Saquon can't slip.

Thanks. I like Isaiah Wynn at Guard/Center (Who can play emergency T).

I don't hate McFadden and I think in a cover 3 he could excel just off his traits and his love of staring in the backfield. I don't think by draft time you will have to burn a 2nd rounder on him thought. 3rd or 4th rounder is where I see him going off of potential.
Imo McFadden isn't a 2nd rd pick, there are other DBs they will be taken before him and move up the boards (and I'm a FSU fan)

Hernandez isn't a fit for ZBS. I'm not sure you need to spend a 3rd on Desmond Harrison either.

I just can't see Barkley falling to 9th, you say Crabtree fell but Barkley didn't have a injury or a diva attitude.

I also don't see your FAs as monster upgrades for a pass rush.

Sorry my man not my favorite mock BUT a lot can change-thanks!

That's the thing. You and others seem to think all these holes will be plugged in this one off-season. I assure you that it will not be.

I understand that but is Trent Murphy a massive improvement, especially with a torn ACL/MCL ?

What does Jerry Attaochu offer that we currently don't have?

I'm not saying we will go after every big FA, but I don't think that 3 of his 5 FA ended their seasons on IR would be a smart way to tackle free agency....thought we were done with the Baalke yrs?

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate that.

Right now McFadden is projected to go in 2nd rd on many draft boards - so I'm going by that. Of course he can fall. We have late 2nd rd pick and early 3rd round picks - so not too far apart. Plus, I have two other CBs as second and third option with that pick (Nick Nelson and Mike Hughes). Point is - I'd like them to invest a 2nd rd pick on a CB they like the most available at that spot.

Fine point on Hernandez and that's why I included another option of Isaiah Wynn. I really like Hernandez but yes he doesn't exactly fit the scheme. Isaiah Wynn does.

RBs have a history of falling in the draft and there are lot of high potential RBs in the draft. Again, someone dropping 5 picks in top 10 isn't a huge drop off and can happen - especially at RB, G and MLB position when you have 5-6 QBs who are likely to go in top 20 picks.

There won't be monster DE available in FA. I'm not a fan of Ansah. 9 of his 12 sacks came against Giants, Bengals, and Aaron Rodgerless Packers. He's super inconsistent with technique and effort and that'll likely get worse once he gets paid. Dallas isn't letting Lawrence go. After that - unfortunately there are no monster upgrades available in FA.
