I think that's a perfectly good question to ask

I would rotate Buck and Vea with Thomas and Day with a sprinkle of AA on the inside on passing downs. If our 2nd team rotation is almost as elite as our 1st team then we're on to something good.

why would you rotate them? Thomas/Buck are better pass rushers. Taking them off the field to put in a 340 DT in passing situations doesn't seem like a smart move.

I just don't see them investing in the DL that early again, especially at DT.

Read my question again genius. I asked what was our weakest link on OFFENSE? I hope you know the difference between the two. I tell yah, some people have tunnel visions....lol

I think he forgot to see that you had us sign Fuller/Ziggy...I'd be down for Nelson if we got that in FA.

Vea logged 108 snaps at DE. Hell if Saleh wants a big set on base downs good luck running on this:

5T- Solomon Thomas
NT- Vita Vea / Sheldon Day
3T- Deforest Buckner
LEO- Ziggy Ansah

Vea had the 3rd best pass rush efficiency out of all draft eligible DT's.

nickle D line rotation

5T- Vita Vea / Solomon Thomas
NT- Vita Vea / Sheldon Day
3T- Deforest Buckner
LEO- Ziggy Ansah / Elvis Dumervil

The similarities to Ngata are un-believable. Whatever we have on the team at Dline or whatever we have done in the past drafts it would be awful hard to pass on a Haloti Ngata clone.

Just sayin.

Is vit vea a pizza pie shop owner from the Bronx?

Jimmy G will be a target next season. Defenses will come after him. Right now the plan would be to blitz up the middle. Niners need as many as three new starters. Selections from the bottom of round 2 on will be slow, at best, to be promoted to practice with the first unit. This would slow cohesion with the OL, which takes time. Especially trying to incorporate three new guys while they learn the system. Nelson can be working with the first unit by the second week of OTAs. Iupati was a 1st round selection. Nelson may be the BPA at #9/10. Check out most professional mock drafts.

CBS has Vea going #14, so if the niners want him they would likely take him at 9 or trade back and take a chance that either he or someone like Davenport dropped to them. I believe much will be determined by free agency as they may not be able to attract a pass rusher who would make a difference.

The team will likely rate these guys and draft BPA at this point of team development...so many needs! If LB R Smith is available...they may just have to take him. When I watch him in games he is flying everywhere and making plays...similar to a smaller, faster Willis when he was young...just stands out. QB may be the only position they don't look at with their first pick.

I'm not saying he's a bad prospect. I actually think he's gonna go top 20 anyway, so he wouldn't be there for a trade up.

I just think we're pretty solid along the DL (outside of LeO) Mitchell/Day aren't going anywhere, Jones had some bright moments when given the chance, and Thomas bucker are gonna gobble snaps...we still have AA for one more yr as well.

Mitchell is on the wrong side of 30 and he was clearly the weakest link on our DL last year.

He actually played better as the season rolled on. DJ Jones did some good things when he played same with Day. Just don't see it happening man.

Yes, Ngata clones don't come around very often. He was drafted in 2006 so its a one in a decade kind of player. We need to trade back up in the 1st to draft Vita Vea.

Nah, I'm sure he seen it but chose to ignore it. He's against the idea of drafting Nelson at 9/10 on every OL thread out there....lol.

I think NT is a HUGE hole. Earl Mitchell was garbage. He was absolutely terrible. It amazes me how guys can say that Arik Armstead sucks by watching games but they say Earl Mitchell did a good job.

Mitchell is a nice vet. A decent player to log 10-15 snaps per game. He hustles. But he sucks and at 4 million per year he may be cut. Especially with Day looking like a beast as a 1 gap penetrator.

There are 2 guys with skill sets who don't come around very often at their respective positions. Vita Vea and Quenton Nelson. Corners like Denzel Ward and Josh Jackson and linebackers like Roquan Smith and Tremaine Edmunds come around EVERY year.

I have been trying my hardest to think of idea's to NOT pick pick Nelson or Vea and I always come back to them. Either guy would change the way teams prepare for us and call plays. Not many other guys can say that.

Vea is a rare prospect. He is equally strong as a pass rusher as he is at stopping the run. 340 pound guys shouldn't be able to do the stuff he does. He is a true 3 down NT and those guys don't come around.

You want to free up Solomon inside against guards? Put Vea and Buckner next to him. Those 3 would dominate the LOS. You want to stop the run to get to 3rd downs? Have those 3 guys on the field. Add an edge rusher like Ziggy Ansah and this line would be dynamic. I don't think we would ever have to blitz which was a staple of our Harbaugh days because our line was so good.

Wouldn't it be AWESOME to be able to get 2 rare talents in one draft? One on each side of the ball!! It would totally cut our rebuilding years down even faster.
