Could be an ahkello type of deal where he needs the first 8 weeks to learn.
Shanahan usually does WR by committee. A tall receiver (which I agree is vital) can be had 4-7 rounds. Until we know how FA goes, pass rusher makes more sense than Sutton.

Think with the move were banking on getting someone in FA and a pick later in the draft. Perhaps as as soon as round 2.

Still doesn't much sense with good Corners, edge guys...which can't have too much of left on the board. Not only that but there are still good o line on the board.

I don't see why we would trade up to take a guy who isn't even the best WR on the board or best player available. Would be a huge reach IMO

We just took a Guard earlier and I hope we pick up a vet center. Not gonna waste Garnett so with Nelson and a vet center, we're set on OL.
Edge is another position we should get in FA. Mingo or Ansah. You wanna get another DL in the 1st for the 4th year in a row?

vvv What I saw in this film? A guy that's got decent speed but very agile for as big as he is. He's already got the raw ability to run routes the way Shanny wants but just needs to be developed. He also blocks as well as you would expect from big WRs. You may say that he had no catches but watch this film, does his QB even give him a chance at anyone of these throws? I wasn't a fan of his at first (was going to wait for Cobbs at the end of the 2nd) but I watched the film again and I saw that he was still on the board late in the 1st so why not give up a mid rounder. Shanny as his OC. Garcon as his mentor. JG as his QB. We have the tools to max out that talent like we just did with Goodwin. There's gonna be some mental growing pains in this system like there was for Rice and TO but I think he'll have all the tools to show out as the season progresses.
Giving up a future #1 for Sutton? Oh, hells no. For a top edge rusher, he'll yes. Plenty of guys like Lazard, Cobb, Tate, etc. down the board who could fill that role.
I'm against trading away a future first round pick for a WR. I'm against taking any WR in the first this year outside of Ridley, honestly. Lot of value at WR where you can get a good guy like DJ Moore later

I can respect that. I think we're nearly out of the rebuild period so I'm not too fond of next draft picks and I think we'll be picking late by next year as well. Really felt like this team right now will be peaking toward the 2nd half of the 2018 season as far as young talent developing. We have a glaring need for a RZ threat which was just filled. If you're really worried about our 1st pick next year, we're picking a Sutton with 1 full year of experience in this system at the cost of a mid rounder this year. How's that for value?

I don't see pick 1 and 2 happening at all.

You don't think the Browns would take Rosen?

The Jets took a QB in the second round, and Hubbard went in the second as well to the Colts

Not bad guys, the Sutton trade is awful though.

I can't see the Jets taking McGlinchy over a QB, with Nelson and Brown on the board as well.

I love Wynn, but that's a bit high. Surprised at no Lamar Jackson or James Washington as well

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sure we'll do a round 3 before combine. You're more than welcome to join the next mock and the nice lil group chat we have going on

Well give us the first 3 rounds next time. So we can freak out at whoever drafted for the 49ers more. I am pleased to see no one is complaining about Nelson at 10.

Can't complain about getting the best player in the draft
We're gonna do another mock come right before combine.
