Mock 2.0

Free Agency
We have 116 million before cuts, releases and restructures. My guess is we'll use 75-80 million. Shahan has some tendencies I'm taking into account for.

Sign
Weston Richburg Center Giants- 4 years 27 million, 15 million guaranteed, 8 million cap year 1

Andrew Norwell Gaurd Panthers- 5 years 60 million, 30 guaranteed, 12 million cap year 1

Jordan Mathews WR Bills- 5 years 50 million, 25 guaranteed, 10 million cap year 1

Beashaud Breeland CB Redskins, 5 years 50
Million, 25 guaranteed, 10 million year 1

Jimmy G 8 years 200 million, 100 guaranteed, 25 million cap year 1

Restructure/extend-
Jimmie Ward- 4 years 24 million, 6 guaranteed, cap year 1 6 million
Jaquiski Tartt- 4 years 24 million, 12 guaranteed, 6 cap year 1

Resign
Tank, Marsh, Coyle,

Cut
Beadles

Entering Draft
Pass Rusher is our only remaining pressing need.

Draft-
1. Harold Landry Leo Boston College- he'll be there at 9 or 10 and we get our pass rusher day 1
2. Auden Tate WR Florida State- 6'5 redzone threat. Never had a good QB. Jimmy G will love this guy. 10 td's as a rookie
3a. Frank Ragnow C/G Arkansas- we solidify our OL with this pick. Could start opposite Norwell or be a backup at 3 interior spots. Future Center longterm.
3b. Quentin Meeks CB Stanford- Breeland starts but our depth chart was pretty bare here. In my head I have Ward moving back to CB at least to cover the slot. This makes 5 CB's worthy of the field. Group has some depth now
4. Josh Sweat DE Florida State- can compete at Sam and Leo. Another position group lacking depth solidified.
5. Jeff Holland OLB Auburn- after missing out on pass rushers in free agency we continue to add depth to Sam and/or Leo. Holland is only 6'1-6'2 but productive. Sweat has measurables and lacked production. One not both fall. But after going Landry early I see us adding depth later.
6. Akrum Wadley RB Iowa- loaded RB class. We finally grab one. Will grab a veteran in late free agency after letting Hyde get overpaid by someone else.
7a. late round DB in a loaded class
7b. Late round OT to develop ala Brown

Final thoughts- with a revamped offensive line this becomes the Jimmy show. One of the young RB's breaks out. I'm confident Breida can start behind this line if he was to win the job in Camp. Williams or Wadley compete with a vet for snaps. Jimmy has 8 years and plenty of weopons. We get 2017 pricing on Mathews who we should have drafted but I'm confident he can get back to his 3 Year Eagles production and be a bargain. Love our depth created at 4 pressing spots of Interior OL, WR, CB, Pass Rusher. We could potentially trade down a few spots and still get Landry. But his floor is the packers at 14...Risky at RB letting Hyde walk and waiting till 6th. I see them being thrifty at RB just like I see them going all in st OL with veteran free agents. 8 years means nothing except headlines. We get him at 25 per and guarantee 100. He becomes first 200 million in the sport. Win win. Alex just got 23.5/94/71 guaranteed. Our depth allows us to sustain an injury anywhere but QB and not take a big step back.

WR- Garçon, Mathews, Goodwin, Tate, Taylor (Garçon can be released after this year. Mathews replaces him with a bigger body and similar skill set. Tate becomes our red zone guy, Taylor still used between the 20's, Can't defend this group)
CB- Witherspoon, Breeland, Ward, Meeks, Williams
Leo/Sam- Landry, Dumerville, Marsh, Watson, Harold, and Sweat or Holland
OL Staley, Norwell, Richburg, Ragnow, Brown
Garnett backup Gaurd, Ragnow backup center

Projected spending 75 million before small contracts and draft. I'd love suggestions to make this better.

Side note. If I'm an agent I've got the 49ers in speed dial for all my guys....

Agreed
You have us spending $40M on 4 FA's. I see us spending $35M to $40M in FA, but not all on 4 guys. I think 1 or 2 $10M+ guys and a bunch of others to compete and fill out the roster.

The cap is based on the highest 51 salaries. I don't see the remaining signings vastly affecting our cap. These holes we filled in FA balance our roster out without become unusually top heavy. The guarantees of which won't be a factor by the time our young guys need 2nd contracts. I can go on if you aren't following me conceptually.
That is an awful lot of money spent and we add one impact player in Norwell. Even then he is questionable at best for our scheme.

You have us spending Richburg, Matthews and Breeland are average players that are paid like stars.

I can't see it.

This is a good thing. What a contrast that would be to the last 20 years.
Hate the guys you went after in FA overall $50 million for Matthews, why? He's a slot WR nothing more and has injury issues.

Why are you extending ward? What has he done to get more money? He's been on IR every yr he's been in the league.

$200 million for JG.....Bro.

Holland/sweat aren't gonna make it to those spots and Landry/Holland/sweat all play the same position imo.

Who are our RBs? Wadley/bredia/Williams is a underwhelming Corp imo.

Sorry not a fan of this mock.
I see us spending $60 mill MAX by game 1 of 2018. Just because we have the $$ doesn't mean will will drop $80 mill this year. After Jimmy I see maybe 2 players who we sign for over $9-10 mill this season. I expect to add a few upgrades this year with the 2019 off season as our BIG spending year. Year 1 set system. Year 2 add upgrades and QB. Year 3 we should be aiming to polish our Gems and all the Gold around it.

Above average starters at Center, Corner and WR make this money. Look at any good teams payroll. Staley our only 10+ player. Why we have 116 to spend. Mathews caught 225 balls in 3 years in philly before a trade to bills. Tyron Taylor and that offense doesn't feature the WR's. He'd have been a 12-14 million player had he stayed in philly. Breeland plays a premium position, plays it above average and is 25 years old. Richburg 7-8 million is what it'll take. I admit th RB group is unproven and mentioned a a cheap vet. Anybody can get 1000 in a shanahan scheme with a quality line. It's be tried and true.

Can't diagree on RB. As mentioned. It was my concern looking back also. The 3 playing the same position to me is 2 positions. 3rd down pass rushers. Who's gonna rush on 3rd outside? 2 spots and depth to fill. Losing incumbent depth.

Do you realize Alex Smith got 23 and that the only numbers that matter are yearly cap and guaranteed money. We're gonna pay Jimmy G well over 200 in the next 8. Even this contract would get restructured. Cousins and Rodgers gonna get 30 per!!! So will Matt Ryan next year. 8/200 headlines 4/100 what matters.

We need a starter at center, guard, Leo, cb, WR(potentially) could use upgrades at 2nd gaurd, and Sam. We cant pull that off in a draft. If you get 3 starters from a draft I'd say you did well. Shanahan traditionally upgrades an OL, sprecifically center in FA. Pass rusher I don't see finding in free agency. The rest mentioned are market value contracts IMO. Last year we addressed holes to create competition in all position groups. We have our QB. It's time to protect him and give him woepons, and the d needs a cb and Leo. Gotta get em
Green Bay will have 3 WR making 10 million next year. Most teams have 5-6 players above that. Baalke didn't draft well enough to pay our own guys. Davonte Adams just got 14 million per and has 237 catches for 2811 yards in 4 seasons. Jordan Mathews, Jerry Rice cousin has 250/2955 in 4 seasons.
