Idahos Early mock 2018.

Would be cool if we traded up with our 2nd to #31/32 for him. Maybe a double trade down?
Idaho.......you have had more than your share of great posts but I gotta disagree with this mock....at least in its being realistic.

First, I believe the Niners are quite happy with their safeties and at this point, are probably looking for a couple of good depth pieces. Plus, their real holes are at OG, C (sorry Dan), CB, ILB (you blew it, Reuben), and edge rusher. Now, since Chubb will gone at 9 or 10, and the Niners are unlikely to choose an OG or C with that pick (Nelson may not even fit their scheme), I would think that the team is looking at CB or ILB (R Smith), if they don't trade the pick.

I'm actually hoping the team chooses Smith because Foster will miss half the season due to suspensions (at least) and he simply cannot be counted upon in the future. Therefore, Smith fills an enormous hole and the team can move on (and still be solid against the run). If Foster does return, it will make the team that much stronger. If the team trades out of that 9th or 10th pick, even better because they probably add a real solid extra piece to their roster.

That being stated, I would love the team to get Wynn and / or Okoronkwo.

Keep those mocks coming, man.

Cheers!

Thanks for your response dude!

I actually hope for a trade back from 9/10 but i hate to project those trades, as its just even more mental masturbation than a mock draft.

If we stay put, and we dont resign Reid, and we end up cutting Ward, i think James is the BPA at 9, and with only Colbert, and Tartt, who only has one year left on his contract, S becomes more of a need than some wish to admit.

I agree LB/CB are our two biggest needs currently, But i feel we can secure solid starters in FA in both of those areas. We lucked out in that its a strong CB FA class, and there are some nice system fits available at LB.

If we are unable to address those needs in FA, i think we go hard for them in the draft, but honestly i believe we will spend big at CB, and likely bring in a couple solid vets at LB.

If that happens, G/C and RB remains our biggest need, but i dont like drafting a C/G in the top 10, and Barkley will be gone, and with it being a deep draft at RB, no need to reach for one in the top 10.
I like Derwin James, but we have Tartt, Ward, and Colbert that all have starting S potential. I would rather re-sign Reid & Hyde and use our first 2 picks to bolster the team in different areas. Instead of just replacing what we had.
