The RB SHOCKER LB STOCKER Zeke Mock

FA -

Melvin/Johnson/Fuller CB - Starting CB don't care which one.

Starting LG - Don't care who. Whoever Shanalynch thinks can do the job and start.

Moncrief - WR depth and played well with Luck.

Any OT depth - Whoever Shanalynch wants.

Resign:

Dumervil DE - Need him for one more year as a situational pass rusher. Next year more options at LEO in FA. If late round DEs have a great camp we can cut him like we did with Kerley when Taylor balled out in the preseason.

Fusco - Competes with Garnett at RG

DRAFT - We trade back from 9 to 21 (pick up an extra 2nd and 3rd) and again from 21 to 28 for another 3rd

1. (28) RASHAAN EVANS LB - Plug and play immediately starts at MLB and makes us semi-forget about Foster. Insurance.

2. (37) SONY MICHEL RB - Hyde is gone so need a legit 3-down back that can run inside as well. Traded 59 and 74 to move up to 37 using draft valuec chart.

2. (53) DARIUS LEONARD LB - More Foster insurance. Had great Senior Bowl week and was flying around making plays. Can tackle and great in coverage. Immediate day one starter at next to Evans. Pick received from Buffalo in initial trade back to 21

2. (59) TRADED to move up to 37

2. (60) RONALD JONES RB - Doubling up on RB with this class. Best outside zone runner in the draft. Perfect for Shanny's scheme, but not big enough to get the tough yards in short yardage and now we have the stud Michel for that. He and Breida will compete for touches. I like Breida a lot, but Jones could be special in this scheme. If he shows he is, we can trade Breida for a late round pick at a later time.

Option B. ARMSTRONG / HERNANDEZ / ALEXANDER

IF IF IF Dorance Armstrong lights it up at the combine I want him at this pick, and IF you don't like Jones I'm good with Will Hernandez here or Jaire Alexander. Select your own option and be GM for this pick as you analyze this mock.

3. (70) FRANK RAGNOW C - My favorite center in the draft. If Kilgore slips at all this guy is taking over sooner rather than later and is the starter for years to come.

3. (74) TRADED to move up to 37

3. (85) TRADED to move to 60

3. (92) TRADED to move to 60

4. (124) LORENZO CARTER LB - Need a SAM LB and this guy competes with Harold. Has good pass rushing skills and good size at 6'4.

4. (134) J.C. JACKSON CB - Good size at 6'1 and should run fast in the 4.4s. Played at Maryland and has great film according to scouts but serious off-field concerns. Worth the risk if he slips this far to the 4th as he is a 2nd round talent. Can develop and compete with Spoon and the FA CB we bring in to start on the other side.

5. (170) WYATT TELLER G - Depth at G and competes with Fusco and Garnett for starting RG and depth behind the FA starting LG we bring in.

7. (200) JALYN HOLMES DE - Played at Ohio St and was a rotational DE and produced when he got a chance. Good size at 6'4 275 and had a solid week at the Senior Bowl. Good developmental guy and provides depth, and can contribute into DL rotation at strong side DE

7. (214) MIKE LOVE DE - Played at USF. Good size at 6'4 but has quickness at 260lbs and should run in the 4.6s at the combine. Great motor as well. Competes with Dumervil and Marsh in camp and a low risk high athletic LEO prospect that zip like better than mid-round guys. (Unless Dorance Armstrong has an insane combine).

QB: Jimmy G, Beathard
RB: Michel, Jones, Breida, Williams
WR: Garcon, Goodwin, Taylor, Bourne,
Moncrief/Decker
FB: Juice
OL: Staley, FA, Kilgore, Garnett, Brown,
Ragnow, Fusco, Teller

DL: Armstead, Thomas, Buckner, Marsh,
Dumervil, Jones, Mitchell, Love, Holmes
LB: Evans, Leonard, Foster, Carter, Harold,
Smith
CB: Spoon, Melvin/Fuller, Williams, J.C. Jackson, Ward
S : Colbert, Tartt, Reid
K : Gould
P : Pinion

Summary - As much as I want Josh Jackson, CB gets taken care of in FA with a starter at CB and we add a highly skilled developmental guy in J.C. Jackson later on in the draft who has starter abilities that falls due to off-field concerns.

Assuming Ansah and Quinn will sadly be unavailable, so there are no good options at DE and I don't love the mid-round options as upgrades to what we already have in Dumervil and Marsh. Elected to go with a couple later round guys with good upside that I actually like better.

Totally revamped the LBs. We won't be caring what happens to Foster with Evans and Leonard flying around. If Foster returns we will have the best LB group in the NFL. If he doesn't we won't care anymore. Carter can rush the passer at SAM LB which is a bonus. I expect Carter, Evans, and Leonard to be our starting LBs almost immediately.

Ragnow will be starting for sure in 2019 and maybe even this year. Whatever FA LG we bring in solves the OL problems for this coming season. We can look at OT next year.

RB....well I just decided to double up and take advantage of the talent here for Shanny's scheme with Michel and Jones. Shanny has his Freeman/Coleman now, and can sprinkle in Breida as well. Joe Williams better come with it or he is expendable now. Competition will be fierce. Our running game becomes a real threat and opens up the offense even more for Jimmy.

WR...no receivers in the draft. If Javon Wims is undrafted I would grab him as an undrafted FA at 6'4 215 out of Georgia. Moncrief adds the depth we need at WR for now.

Thoughts?

Criticism or praise have at it. Tried to be creative and take a different approach I feel would help the team. I don't like the mid-round pass rushers and so I went in a different direction. However, the main thing for me is that I wanted Evans, Michel, Leonard, and Ragnow as four of our picks in this mock. Jones was an extra add-in because Breida can be upgraded and so I could use the "RB Shocker LB Stocker" title

Thanks for reading!

To much doubling up(RB) and tripling up(LB) for me we have other needs then to draft 3 LBs in 4 rounds... Biggest change I'd make is a future LT at 60 or a pass rusher ...
1 too many trades. 2 trade ups both for a RB. Dont make sense.

If we trade up for muchel in this scenario as you said a 3 down RB. Then we could use our 2 3rds on a better edge rusher.... Duke Ejiofor or Kemeko turay and either a WR/TE.

Then instead of Carter you could down with a receiving RB in Jaylen Samuels to pair with Michel

Then could use one of your 2 late edges on a sam.

Dont mind taking 2 LBs but not 2 in the 1st 2 rounds. Unless we cut/trade foster. But if the scenario plays out as i stated then it wouldnt hurt as bad because of the extra pick we've made.

Evans
Michel
Leonard
Ragnow
Ejiofor
Fumagalli

Jaylen Samuels
J.C.Jackson
Wyatt Teller
Jaylen Holmes
SAM CANDIDATE

this i would be ok with

Agree with the Wolf. Gotta spread the love a little on the roster. This team has very specific needs and one is speed at OLB. Don't see that anywhere here. Either Jones or Michel would do at RB but not both. Like the free agents but don't know if the Niners will invest any money at OT besides maybe re-signing Gilliam or just letting the kid from Utah be the backup OT (Williams Jr.) or Magmuson. Can't fix everything in one year.

Like the players you are targeting, just need less of them.
How do we have 3 second round picks in that trade I don't get it.

1 trade back and and 1 trade up plus our 2nd (well NO)
Quite the over reaction to our needs, but I get mocks are more fun when you can fit in all of your draft crushes.

We're gonna draft arguably RB2/3 and RB3/4, and have them split carries? That's already a waste of talent and draft capital, and you're proposing using 4 or 5 picks to do so.

As for LB, what happens if foster does come back? Waste of high draft capital to have someone sitting on the bench. I'd rather draft a MIKE (evans) and run with Malcolm Smith for a year. If Foster is a dud, take a guy next year.

I also doubt Vontae signs if not guarenteed a true shot to compete to be a starter, and I don't see the regime putting Ahkellos development on hiatus for an aging oft injured Davis
Dumerville signed for 2 years last off season so we don't need to resign but I agree we'll need him this year. Like you said FA isn't likely to upgrade the position and unless Chubb is there at 9 I'm not sure we have a day 1 starter in this draft. Seems every late round guy keeps moving into 2nd round conversations too. Not sure they are worthy.

I'm a big fan of doubling up on a position of weakness and thus turning it to a strength. So kudos on RB and LB. Moncrief really does shape up the WR core. Although I believe their are several bigger WR worth drafting throughout the draft as well. Cobbs, Tate, Mims, Ateman. I could see a lot of your selected players going exactly in the range you did, so that's realistic. Wouldn't mind someone like MJ Steewart or Siran Neal to add depth to corner/Safety in later rounds if Jackson isn't available. Best of all we HAVE to take advantage of FA and at least come up with a starting corner and Gaurd. We have money and a few options. I see them grabbing a WR too, albeit a complimentary piece similar to Moncrief. So overall great job. Thx
