Free Agency:

Malcolm Butler - CB - Patriots | While not my top choice, he's a very good CB that seems to be wanted here. Jimmy G and Marsh connections here.

Avery Williamson - LB - Titans | Primarily a 2 down LB, Williamson beefs up the talent at MIKE, allowing Foster and Smith to duke it out at WILL.

Andy Levitre - G - Falcons (potential cap cut) | We aggressively go after Levitre to lock down our LG spot. Tomlinson competes with Garnett at RG.

Trent Murphy - DE - Redskins | Strong 2016 but injured 2017 results in a buy low type signing. Stanford guy, so he may be interested in going to SF.

Taylor Gabriel - WR - Falcons | This is the obvious WR signing in free agency for the 49ers. Adds speed to the unit.

Deshawn Shead - CB - Seahawks | Depth signing with flex across both CB and S.

Pre-Draft Trade: 49ers trade 5th (via NYJ) for Lions Eric Ebron - TE. Similar to Tomlinson, Ebron has been a bust in DET. With them retaining JBC as OC, they will likely move Ebron. Mayhew drafted him, so I see Lynch and Shanahan being aggressive to snag their new move TE.

NFL Draft: Cousins signs with MN, McCarron to CLE, Keenum to ARI, Bradford to NYJ

CLE - Darnold;
NYG - Rosen;
IND - Chubb;
DEN - Allen (swap with CLE, give up 3rd rd)
CLE - Barkley;
NYJ - Nelson;
TB - Fitzpatrick;
ARI - Mayfield (trade with CHI);
OAK - Edwards

49ers trade #10 overall to the Browns for #33, #64, and #65. Browns trade up to select Roquan Smith - LB. They still retain a high 2nd and high 3rd round draft pick while securing the best QB, RB, and LB in the draft. They have solid picks to still get WR, DB, and RB.

R2: James Daniels - C - Iowa (via CLE) | The best ZBS prospect in the draft, Daniels competes for the starting job at either C or G. I love the combination of size, power, and agility to be a day 1 contributor on this team.

R2: Dorance Armstrong Jr - EDGE - Kansas (via NO) | Don't let his stats fool you, Armstrong can be a lethal pass rushing threat in this scheme. Scheme changes resulted in him playing the run more, but his 2016 tape shows he can be a dominant pass rusher in the pros.

R2: Rashaad Penny - RB - San Diego St. (via PHI) | Oozes with talent due to his size, power, and speed. Has potential to be an every down back for Shanahan, but pairs well with the skills that Breida and Williams offer to make a tri-threat at the position.

R3: Braden Smith - T/G - Auburn (via CLE) | While Smith offers upside as a guard, I actually see him as a developmental prospect at tackle for the 49ers. With Staley's age and Brown's weight and injury concerns, Braden can be an effective swing tackle, guard, and blocking TE for Shanahan.

R3: Quenton Meeks - CB - Stanford (via CHI) | A great mid-round prospect with the physical abilities to be a nice press corner in our scheme. He'll really need to refine his recognition skills off the line as he does have a tendency to bite on routes. It's coachable though.

R3: Marcell Ateman - WR - Oklahoma St. | Great size and route running skills, Ateman adds a unique weapon to the WR corps. His speed is a concern, especially going against press coverages, that may mute his production. However, Shanahan is an excellent schemer and will find a way to thrive.

TRADE: 49ers trade 4th round pick (via PIT) and Ronald Blair for Raiders Bruce Irvin and a 6th round pick. With Edwards selection in round 1, Irvin's spot has been occupied. He's not a great scheme fit for their defense, and with the trade down, we have the ammo to upgrade our SAM and LEO spots with Irvin. Blair can be a day 1 starter at DE as their scheme likes for larger defensive ends. It's a win-win for both teams.

R6: Josh Kalu - S - Nebraska | Developmental prospect at Strong Safety. Not necessarily a box safety, but offers upside as an all around S.

R6: Chris Worley - LB - Ohio St. (via OAK) | Backup MIKE but offers upside on ST duties.

R7: Matt Dickerson - Big End/DT - UCLA | With Blair's departure, Dickerson is a developmental prospect offering upside as a Big End.

R7: Dee Delaney - DB - Miami (via KC) | Prospective DB that offers upside at CB or S. Like his frame and maybe we strike bold twice at Miami.

I don't hate it but I don't love it. Are we better? Sure, by how much? Debatable.
hate moving out of the 1st all together.

Not a Armstrong fan and Penny I'm just meh on. I'm also not down for paying Avery Williamson who like you said is a 2 down LBer. If we're just looking for a Foster fill in I'd much rather go after Posluszny
Who's Edwards, going 9 to Oakland to replace Irvin? Did you mean Tremaine Edmunds (that's who I think we'll pick)? Or Rashaan Evans? Some interesting thoughts here, but I don't think we'll drop from 10 to 33 even for all those picks.
I like your free agents but there is no way we move out of the 1st all together because we lose the 5th year option on our draft pick.

Also, your draft has alot of B level players. We go from the ability to add a franchise player at 9/10 to a few average to good starters. I don't like it.

I think our depth is fine and we will fill out our needs in free agency but we will look to add a star in the draft.

The numbers are way off on that trade too:

#9 - 1350

#33 - 580
#64 - 270
#65 - 265

Total - 1115

So you basically gave up 235 points or a high 3rd rounder for nothing.
I love Daniels, Penny, Smith, Meeks and Ateman but not a huge fan of Armstrong.

I also hate the huge trade down even if I like most of the players you have us getting.
Doesn't make muxh aense for Cle to trade up to the 10th spot when they already havw the 1st and 4th picks. And in the world wound Foster be battling Smith to start?
Like the plan there. Not sure how I feel about moving out of the 1st but the picks cover our needs
Good job with free agency. Not the bigger names, but solid targets for the Niners to get better.

Don't like the in-draft trades, but getting Ebron for a 5th isn't bad. Would much rather take Roquan Smith than give him up for three picks. The Niners would still end up with R. Smith, Armstrong, B. Smith, plus Ateman while keeping Blair and their 4th round pick where they could still end with A. Corbett or W. Clapp at C.
You sure you're not a Browns fan?
