We already knocked it out of the park, with our first second round pick:

I'm certainly no draft expert and we're all learning how our new FO works, but my best guess is they stay pat and take Landry. He'd be a critical piece to making Saleh's defense go and would have a positive ripple effect throughout the rest of the defense.
That said, if we trade back, I'm thinking it's a T like Connor Williams or G like Isaiah Wynn + a second and extra third plus a 2nd next year.
As for O'Neill, no, he'd compete at RT with Brown and Gilliam. He's probably too tall inside at 6'7" but I'd leave that up to the coaches (that would be ideal).
As to LB. honestly, I have that pretty far down the list. With our stellar DL, Malcolm Smith back, plenty who can play SAM, Elijah Lee with a full off season plus snaps last year, I think we're in decent shape to start the year. Grab a thicker MIKE or instinctive smaller WILL in the 5th+. Foster is special no doubt.
Yeah, I'm thinking if Landry is there at #9, they take him. If he's not there, probably drop down and take the next BPA and get more draft picks.

I fought the same temptation. But for me it came down to... for what we'd need from a RB4 Shanny can find off the streets.
McKinnon, Joe and Breida. We really dnt need ti burn a pick on a RB imo
I'm thinking the same. We have 3 running backs who excel laterally for our OZ running game in Williams, Breida and McKinnon. It shouldn't be too hard to find a bigger-bodied bruiser late or even an UDFA.
I agree, and if Kyle can get an UDFA - even better. Brieda was a great undrafted pickup. I'd say the equivalent of a Kendal Hunter (4rth round pick).

Originally posted by NCommand:OK, this is my one-month-out mock draft. I leaned heavily on draft visits as that pool seemed to match our team needs perfectly.
Draft Visits = Team Needs: ER, OL, CB, LB, RB, TE/WR, S and somewhere in there, DE if he happens to be BPA.
2018 NCommand/ShanaLynch Mock Draft:
(1 | 9) - Harold Landry, ER / 6-3 252
(2 | 43) - Jimmy Garoppolo, FQB / 6-2 225
(2 | 59) - Frank Ragnow, C/G / 6-5 309
(3 | 70) - Tony Brown, CB / 6-0 199
(3 | 74) - Royce Freeman, RB / 5-11 234
(4 | 128) - Fred Warner, WILL / 6-3 227
(5 | 143) - Chad Thomas, SAM/BE/ER / 6-6 275
(6 | 184) - Deontay Burnett, ZWR / 6-5 186
(7 | 223) - Tre Flowers, S / 6-3 200
(7 | 240) - DeMornay Pierson-El, ST/Returner / 5-9 194
Overall: We met with every one of these players save for Frank Ragnow. For reference, MadDog had the following players going (here) overall: Harold Landry (19), Frank Ragnow (56), Tony Brown (64), Royce Freeman (84), Fred Warner (110) & Chad Thomas (121).
Team Needs: I feel great about meeting the team needs. We got our LEO and a BE/SAM rusher with Landry & Thomas. Then, some inside OL help with Frank Ragnow who could push to start at G while learning the C position from Richburg. Like last year, we got our CB in the third to learn from Sherman. We've got some insurance at WILL too. Finally, we got an inside the tackles RB who can take the balanced pounding we need, added a tall raw RZ body at ZWR, depth at S like Adrian Colbert last year and a nice kickoff/punt returner.
And oh yeah, we got a FQB in the second round, pick #43.

The only thing I'd change is I'd rather have Meek's for corner and Penny at running back. Other than that looks good to me

That's certainly my line of thinking too. Kyle knows the traits he's looking for. He mentioned in his hour long interview, he'd like to have a bigger body too to compliment McKinnon but that guy has to be there.

You have:
RB1: *Jerick McKinnon; Joe Williams
RB2: Matt Breida; Jeremy McNichols & Raheem Mostert
OW: *Kyle Juszczyk; Malcolm Johnson
As our potential lineup at RB squad. I'd see if I could get a younger, bigger and faster Malcolm Johnson in the draft (if there is any available) he's so much like Juszczyk. Juszczyk was a really valuable receiver last year and it would be great if we get another fullback/OW that can back up Juszczk and on a cheap rookie contract. I've yet to see Jeremy McNichols play, but he has done well as a pass receiver in college. He's bigger than either Breida or McKinnon, I'd love to get another McNichols in the draft that's maybe in the 220 lb range but with the same kind of skill set that McNichols has and with the same kind of speed that Breida and McKinnon have. That would make a very strong RB corps in 2018 in my opinion. The problem is - is there any available beyond the 5th round or Undrafted?

Yeah, ultimately with my draft, I'm predicting this.
RB1: Royce Freeman; Raheem Mostert
RB2: Jerick McKinnon; Matt Breida
FB: Kyle Juszczyk
Don't get too caught up on the RB1 and RB2. Kyle loves to split carries and Freeman and McKinnon will get a ton of pretty even carries as well as Breida (like in Atlanta). Mostert will make it as he's a ST ace.
It's always possible Joe Williams and Jeremy McNichols will be real contenders too...could even beat out a rookie RB or even Breida.

Royce Freeman is an interesting back. I checked the draft visit thread and he met with the 49ers at the combine.
Big guy, amost a mini-tight end, maybe a big bodied RB/WR in the red zone area? This may be the guy to give the ball to, in the fourth quarter of a possible super bowl game.
ependable and productive throughout illustrious career. Has impressive, muscular frame. Build produces some natural power and contact balance when he keeps his play speed up. Uses upper body strength to shrug off angle tackles who come in too high. Plays with a feel for block development. Field vision is good. Uses well-timed throttle downhill behind wash down blocks. Willing interior runner in Ducks inside zone heavy attack. Shows off quality footwork and directional change to keep runs alive when defenders beat their blocks early in rep. Contorts to shape of the run lane and squeezes through. Has power in his lead shoulder when challenging safeties in open field. Understands where run track is supposed to lead him. Used as screen receiver over last two seasons but can catch it. Could become a third down option if he improves pass

Exactly. He'd be the Devonta Freeman (Royce Freeman) to our Tevin Coleman (Jerick McKinnon).
Like Kyle noted in that interview, he's looking for various skill sets to share snaps specifically noting that Freeman is a much better runner in between the tackles and Coleman is much better outside the tackles. And you need both.

I can see Royce developing into a hybrid OW like Juzcuzck if he has good hands and can catch the ball. Given the new rules about tackling with the Head, I can see a Kittle, Celek, Juzczck, Royce 4 minute offense that would be really hard to stop. Imagine the mismatches if they put in a goal line defense against that kind of hybrid pass catching talent.

Your discussion made me really rethink Royce. I love the player but I made a change to TE, Mike Gesicki.
See below.
Mike Gesicki - 6'5" 247 4.5 40 and former basketball & volleyball player. High-point king who wins every jump ball and never drops a pass. Excellent route runner who compliments McKinnon, Juice, Kittle, Taylor, Garcon and Goodwin perfectly.
Tackle is the only thing I couldn't address. I think Kyle can find a bigger RB like he found Breida as an UDFA.
