1st Round Pick (6th Poll, Post-FA Frenzy, No Trades)

1st Round Pick (6th Poll, Post-FA Frenzy, No Trades)

Dec. 23, 2017
I think it's likely that we'll be either 4-12 or 5-11, and picking 5-7th overall.
NOTE: I've eliminated QB, DT, S, and OT from the list as I don't see how we would select one of these positions.
Results (141 total votes):
Quentin Nelson - 33%
Bradley Chubb - 17%
Saquon Barkley - 15%
Roquan Smith - 13%
Minkah Fitzpatrick - 9%
Harold Landry - 7%
Calvin Ridley - 4%
Courtland Sutton - 3%
Arden Key - 1%

Jan. 5, 2018
Niners will be picking either 9th or 10th (TBD).
NOTE: I've eliminated QB and DT from the list, but added back in OT and S. I've also eliminated Bradley Chubb and Saquon Barkley as they are widely considered top-5 selections.

Quentin Nelson - 39%
Harold Landry - 16%
Joshua Jackson - 13%
Roquan Smith - 11%
Calvin Ridley - 8%
Arden Key - 5%

Mike McGlinchey - 2%
Courtland Sutton - 1%
Clelin Ferrell - 1%

Niners will be picking either 9th or 10th (TBD).
NOTE: I've eliminated QB and DT. I'm adding Bradley Chubb back into the fray, but keeping Saquon Barkley off, and eliminating Clelin Ferrell as he's going back to school. The list now includes names from previous polls and recent mock drafts.

Mar. 6, 2018:
Niners will be picking 9th. Combine performances are now taken into consideration. Big news regarding Reuben Foster since the last poll.
NOTE: I've eliminated QB and DT from the list. Since the combine, I've eliminated Bradley Chubb and Saquon Barkley again. They both appear to be top-5 picks and this poll is not considering trade-up scenarios. I've also dropped Arden Key and Orlando Brown from consideration.
Results (61 total votes):
Harold Landry - 33%
Quentin Nelson - 30%
Roquan Smith - 13%
Tremaine Edmunds - 11%
Derwin James - 5%
Calvin Ridley - 3%
Denzel Ward - 3%
Minkah Fitzpartrick - 3%

Niners will be picking 9th. Free Agency signings are now taken into consideration.
NOTE: I've eliminated QB and DT from the list. I've dropped Mike McGlinchey from consideration.
This is neat to see. Thanks for doing this.

Sure thing! I think the trends are more interesting than any specific poll. The selection of Solomon Thomas really was the impetus for doing this. Some guy who was not considered at all in Dec. became the consensus pick come Apr.

Assuming Nelson Barkley and Chubb are gone and we don't trade down, I would be choosing between Roquan and Landry. I know people say we could trade down and still get Landry. Not sure but I guess that would be the best—unless we pick Roquan. This year's gonna be so interesting cause I can really see great arguments for both (and others)
Harold Landry trending...

Dec. 23rd - 7% (note that at this point, we were still looking at a top-5 pick)
Jan. 5th - 16% (our draft position was either 9 or 10 at this point)
Jan. 23rd - 1% (Josh Jackson getting big interest at this point)
Feb. 14th - 5% (Jackson, Chubb, and Barkley getting lots of votes, Chubb and Barkley eliminated after this poll)
Mar. 6th - 33% (first time a non-Quentin Nelson player appears as the number one choice)
Mar. 19th - 35% (currently)

The story here is that he's been on the radar the whole time. He's definitely behind Chubb, so if Chubb is available he doesn't get interest, and there was about a month where Josh Jackson was hyped (before combine).
I think a lot of people are also basing their selection on who they think will actually be available as opposed to solely on the players you have listed

Totally, and honestly, the specific player each person selects is fairly irrelevant. The trends are more telling IMO.
