Yay Area's Final 2018 Mock (Version 4)

Resign: Eric Reid - Still unsigned, I think the 49ers still can use his versatility between safety and linebacker. Maybe he won't be a starter with Ward and Tartt at safety, but he would still be one of our top 11 defenders and Saleh could/should fit him in somewhere.

SF 1st - Traded to the Buffalo. They move up for one of the QBs. We pick up their 2018 2nd.
BUF 1st - Harold Landry, DE, Boston College. Speedy edge rusher to boost our past rush.
BUF 2nd - Austin Corbett, OG, Nevada. Perfect fit for line. Can come in and immediately push Tomlinson and Garnett for the starting position.
NO 2nd - Braden Smith, OG, Auburn. With his athleticism, he is another perfect fit for the line.
SF 3rd - Quenton Meeks, CB, Stanford. Great size, okay speed. Can come in and learn from Sherman.
CHI 3rd - Fred Warner, LB, BYU. Athletic linebacker that showed in the Senior Bowl that he could play inside and out.
PIT 4th - Alex Cappa, OT, Humboldt State. Developmental tackle that can learn behind Staley.
LA 5th -Oren Burks, LB, Vanderbilt. Smart, athletic linebacker that will work with Warner to create solid depth and competition to our linebacking core.
NYJ 5th - Marquis Haynes, DE/OLB, Mississippi St. One trick pony. He is a great pass rusher and not much else. He slips due to that and his size.
SF 6th - Jack Cichy, LB, Wisconsin. Lynch pulls a Baalke on an ACL player. He is definitely one that would be worth it if he can recover.
SF 7th - Marquez Valdes Scantling, WR, South Florida. Big WR at 6'5'', that ran a 4.37 40. Great development prospect with that size and speed.
KC 7th - Matt Linehan, QB, Idaho. From a pro-style that Shanahan values.

With the free agency haul already brought in, we filled holes and strengthened the center, the running back, and cornerback positions and added some needed depth. But we still have some areas to fill, particularly at pass rusher. Thus, drafting some sorely need speed rushers in Landry and Haynes. Additionally, I am of the opinion that if you want to really build a team from inside out and win the line of scrimmage you must invest in lineman every year. So even though we added Richburg, I feel that adding depth and competition with Corbett, Smith, and Cappa is the way to go, especially when Tomlinson, Garnett, Beadles, and Cooper haven't locked down any of the starter positions. Lastly, due to the uncertainty surrounding Foster, I decided adding three linebackers would be needed.

Great mock man. It would be great. Just not sure about the back to back guards. Unless plans are to let him compete at RT Corbett

Corbett could eventually compete at RT, if things don't work out with Trent Brown. As far as our OGs, Tomlinson, Beadles, Garnett, and Cooper are all question marks. They are bodies, but who knows how they will perform. And like I said, bringing in two athletic, solid fits for the line, letting them all compete, and then seeing how things shake out, is how I would approach it.

If you would have gone for penny with one of those second round picks you would have hit a grand slam

Id probably go St. Brown in place of Braden Smith, but there is a lot to like with this draft.

I would rather a WR or TE instead of one of the Guards you took. Nice job overall man!
I knew making this mock the way I did that it wouldn't be popular. I explained my mindset in the writeup. I am simply not sold on any of our guards, so I feel that spending multiple high draft picks on that position is warranted. It is certainly a fair criticism to say that that is overkill. However, I would say that if there is a position group that could use overkill, it's the offensive line, so that we can ensure that our QB is protected, given ample time to throw, and is able to open holes in the running game.

But I hear ya, and if I were to replace one of the guards it would be Braden Smith, and I would select Equanimeous St. Brown. He is a big bodied receiver that is known as being a very polished route runner, and he surprised people with a 4.48 40. I think that is the kind of receiver that Shanahan would be able to utilize very successfully.
I like the players you selected individually. However, back to back anything in rounds 1-3 doesn't make sense. I think Meeks can be had later and I hope he's one of two, one early one late, corners we select. I'm actually of the belief we are OK at guard. I feel good about Cooper who revitalized his career with a solid season in Dallas. Tomlinson should be much better with an off-season to mesh. I've never believed in Baalke. I mean never. Don't have any faith in Garnett but my fingers are crossed his redshirt year under legit management may pay off. If we end up with one of the top 4-5 Gaurds, great. If not I don't see an upgrade. That said I love the trade with buffalo, grabbing Landry at 12. With buffalo 2nd I'd target either CB or WR. There should be CB Carlton Davis or WR Courtland Sutton in that spot. I'd prefer that. I'd still be ok with Meeks later but I think they'll be several CB's that can contribute in or 4/5 round area. Deep class. I'd be good with Braden Smith in the NO 2nd slot. I dig Warner, Kappa, Burks selections. So we agree on several things. Overall good job. Just my $.02

Pass rush: sorted
Inside line: sorted
Developmental tackle: sorted
ILB: partially sorted
corner to develop behind Sherman: sorted
LB depth: partially sorted

That is a lot of the problems dealt with.
