Alex Mack would be a really good addition.
Not sure you need McKinnon if you draft Taylor.
Would like to see a true OT in the draft. Not sure we should hang our hat on Skule just yet and or Throckmorton.
Thinking Trent Taylor may make the 53 man roster.

Skule, Brunskill, Coleman, and Throckmorton can play LT or RT. We don't really have the draft picks to invest a day 1 or 2 selection for a developmental LT. We'll have more pressing needs IMO.

I'd agree, until you use said limited picks on a RB. Really like the additions of Dantzler and Brooks. Don't know anything about weatherly, but like the thought process. Can't see a realistic possiblity of trading Pettis for a starting center. I'd try to find a way to keep Armstead.

Forgot about Coleman.
I am thinking the LT should be more about quality than quantity with the assumption Staley retires next year or can no longer play at a high level. Not sure about your comment about not having the draft capital when we invest a high draft pick on a running back, although Taylor could be a real stud in the NFL.
I agree that Mack for Pettis is not realistic but acquiring Mack through other means would be a great addition.

So I look at Tevin Coleman as a Trent Brown guy - sure he's talented and serviceable, but you can find a better fit that can offer more value at a cheaper price in this scheme. Mostert isn't an every down back. Breida isn't an every down back. Wilson is a reserve with fumbling issues.
Taylor reminds me a lot of a faster Melvin Gordon. Additionally, the departure of Coleman and restructuring of McKinnon will save us $7-8m in cap space. We have a lot of unproductive spend at the position, and we can shed $7M in space but upgrade at the same time.
Regarding the Mack trade, the Falcons are in a dire state from a salary cap standpoint. They need to shed $20-$30M, and Mack is slated to earn $8M - which is a hefty price tag when you are 34 years old. They lost Sanu via trade, and Pettis can be their #3 on a rookie contract with 2 years remaining. He'd also be mentored by Julio Jones, and would probably be a great fit as a #3 target for Matt Ryan. Mack has strong ties with Shanahan, so I think it would be a win-win for both teams.

Well we saw Skule perform well when filling in for Staley. The one game where he was benched, we found out later that Skule had a bone bruise that was causing him issues on the field. Brunskill did a really good job at RT filling in for McGlinchey. So we already have two promising reserves, and then you throw in Coleman (coaching staff likes him) and a rookie, and I think we have more than enough for depth and a potential replacement for Staley.

Wait AA starts to show his talent and potential and we trade him why ??? Also to trade him we'll have to franchise tag him(which I have no problem with doing to keep him around amd see if he put up around tha same numbers next yr) ... Don't see why we need S. Coleman back when Brunskill and skule are younger cheaper and can stay healthy ... RB Coleman is on a cheap deal why not keep him and drop McKinnon with little dead money...

RE: AA - If we can get AA on an affordable contract, then yes let's absolutely keep him. However, I think he's going to want to make bank on the open market. And with the money already invested in the D-line, and pending contract extensions on the horizon (Buckner, Warner, Kittle, Tartt), I don't know if we can afford to keep him long-term. So the idea would be to net a draft pick for him and try to replace his production w. younger talent.
RE: S. Coleman - if Brunskill is going to be a starting RG in 2020, then we'll need another swing tackle on the roster for training camp. Coleman is coming off injury, so I don't think he's going to cost that much money.
RE: T. Coleman - $5M is a lot of money for his production with no dead cap if we trade/cut him. We should be able to easily replace him for an upgrade. And McKinnon does net us some dead cap if we release him - so I think a restructure is the most likely outcome for him.

I can't see the 49ers passing completely on the crazy WR Talent in this draft. IMO< there will be a DUDE sitting at that 2nd round pick, and I think they'd be better served to go WR than RB there. I also don't think they dump Coleman for a 6th when he's the current starter heading into the playoffs. Mostert wants to keep playing STs, so I agree w/you that he likely won't be a "bell cow" featured back, and Coleman's utility as a receiver opens up Shanahan's playbook.

Yeah that's fair. Also earlier running game struggles could be attributed to Garland and Person as starters.
Bourne is a good #3-#4, but we need that weapon to pair with Sanders and Samuel.
It's going to be an exciting off-season.
