HBB Offseason analysis and first round seletion

Key Free Agents
2020: Jimmy Ward, Arik Armstead, Emmanuel Sanders
2021: George Kittle, Deforest Buckner, Jaquiski Tartt, Kyle Juszczyk, Richard Sherman, D.J. Jones, K'Waun Williams

Aging Players
Joe Staley, Emmanuel Sanders, Richard Sherman

Team Needs
FS, 4-3 DE, WR, TE, DT, SS, FB, CB, NT, Slot CB, OT

Assumptions
49ers will not be big players in free agency.
49ers will not trade up in the first round.
49ers primary focus during/after the 2020 season is extending George Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk and Deforest Buckner.
49ers will release Jerick McKinnon and Marquise Goodwin.
49ers believe their depth at OL and DL can withstand injury or retirement.
49ers expect Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis and Jalen Hurd to be contributors in 2020.

First round analysis - 49ers' Fits
A strong fit WR will be available at 31. This group will be pretty fluid but generally a strong class results in players dropping below their ranking.
A strong fit SS will be available at 31. I see either Grant Delpit or Xavier McKinney available.
A strong fit CB will be available at 31. At least two of Kristian Fulton, Cameron Dantzler, Trevon Diggs or Bryce Hall will be available, plus a few others are promising. Fulton has a character concern though (drug test tampering).
A strong fit NT will be available at 31 (Neville Gallimore).
A strong fit 4-3 DE will not available at 31. A.J. Epenesa and Yetur Gross-Matos are the two mid-to-late round DEs who could be Armstead replacements, but I predict they won't be available. Available edge rushers at 31 are hybrid DE/OLB variety like Dee Ford.
A strong fit FS will not be available at 31.
A strong fit DT will not be available at 31.

Pre-draft signings: Jimmy Ward, Arik Armstead (Franchise)

Adjusted Team Needs
WR, SS, CB, NT, Slot CB

At the end of the day, I think 49ers will have a choice between Jalen Reagor, Kristian Fulton, Cameron Dantzler and Grant Delpit. While Reagor's speed is tempting, the bigger risk is replacing Sherman after 2021, so my pick is Kristian Fulton.

Lynch will try to resign Sanders after the draft, and defer decisions on Sherman, Tarrt, Jones and Williams to next year.

Nice team analysis, but what would you do with the rest of the picks?

And one other question. Do you think the Niners need to add an Edge rusher in the draft or in free agency.
Later rounds just looking for depth. Slot CB, SS, NT and developmental OG/C. I would assess Armstead one more year and resign Blair. I am always leery of the guy in any sport who looks great in his contract year. My assumption is that 49ers won't be big players in free agency since they will be spending a lot to keep the core stars together. But I'd still keep my eye on Joey Bosa next year. If he wants out 49ers could make a play for him.

I see a lot of predictions trading down to get extra picks. I think they should stay at 31 and increase the odds that they get one starter out of this draft.

Fulton will be gone at 31
This matches my analysis...1) Ward, 2) Armstead then possibility that Sanders cannot be signed. He get sacrificed cause of all the signings needed for 2021.

I feel like playing him in zone kinda takes away what he's good at.
