MBA'S Final Mock Draft ver 5.0 Post Free Agency edition

After the first week of free agency, the Niners have acquired some much needed draft capital to maintain their Super Bowl level roster and stay under the cap. That #13 pick is so valuable and allows the Niners to pursue their biggest needs early enough in the first round while wheeling and dealing with the their #31 pick to get more draft capital to build depth. There are about 5 teams with multiple picks on day two so the Niners will trade down with a team who is looking to get a 5th year option on an additional pick. Here is the best trade that John Chapman proposed on Twitter:

#Jets get #31 + #156 49ers get #48 + #68 + #117

The Jets may still trade Le'Veon Bell or have to replace Robby Anderson if he signs elsewhere in free agency so they would love to lock up a skill player for 5 years.

The player ratings are based on DraftScout.com prospect rankings as of today.

With the DeFo trade, Sanders signing with NOLA, AA and Ward re-signing, plus re-signing all our ERFA, the Niners needs are pretty straight forward. That leaves the following needs to be addressed in the draft:

Primary needs:
WR
Offensive Line
CB
Interior Defensive Line

Secondary needs:
Edge/LB
TE

Picks
Round 1 Pick 13 CeeDee Lamb WR Oklahoma - this could be any of the top 3 WR's, but the ball skills and RAC are what I'd prefer
Round 2 Pick 48 Matt Hennessy C/OG Temple - swing interior offensive lineman to take over for Person or Richburg
Round 3 Pick 68 Bryce Hall CB Virginia - top rated CB a year ago who has had some injury issues. Great developmental CB pickup at this point.
Round 4 Pick 107 Ben Bartch OT St. John's (MN) - Converted TE, small school stand out OT who did well at the Senior Bowl; Joe Staley 2.0
Round 5 Pick 177 McTelvin Agim DT Arkansas - Shrine game revelation as a one gap penetrator DT
Round 6 Pick 190 Josiah Degaura FB/TE Cincinnati - gritty blocker as a move TE who can also add something as a receiver
Round 7 Pick 194 Rashad Robinson CB James Madison - 13 INT's over his career; 4 year, small school baller coming off of an injury
Round 7 Pick 223 Casey Toohill LB Stanford - backup EDGE/LB who can rush the passer, but needs to bulk up to play better against the run.

Nice
I like it a lot...just would prefer Ruggs and then Jeudy over Lamb but assuming they were already drafted I'd definitely be happy with that haul.

f**king awesome draft Brock! I was going to do a mock draft but I should just copy and paste your first three picks because they are mine. I believe we are going to get a receiver at 13 preferably Ruggs or Jeudy but any of the three will do like you said.

We trade back with our second pick because there's no way were getting two first round picks and not drafting again until the fifth round. Even though it would be two great starters I just don't see us ever doing that. Since Kyle values interior lineman a lot less that would be our second pick. Most likely when we trade back with the team.

I believe that is the guy we are targeting in the second because Ruiz won't fall that far.

We need a good corner as well but after that I'm not sure where we go. Probably best player available with the rest of the picks but you know we're going to get a tight end earlier than later. Great job
I like this a lot! Agree at 13. Any of the 3 or whichever one is left. To me WR is the only starting spot without an obviously capable player. Deebo is our #1. But is he a top 10 legit #1. We need talent here. Less reliant on Kittle. Next few picks we address the CB spot and solidify the OL into the future. Nice job.
No qualms with it at all. Looks good. As everyone else thinks, any of those top WRs work. Every mock will have different opinions for 5th thru 7th rounds.
After countless iterations on the PFN Draft Simulator, I have come up with my ideal draft for the Niners.

Assumptions
In this draft, teams in the top 10 shied away from Tu'a due to his injury concerns and Jordan Love was also still on the board at this point. This led to the following trade:

Niners trade #13 to NE for #23, #87 and #125

With WR handled as a need, Niners found a taker in the Houston Texans who wanted to move up into the late first for a starting safety:

Niners trade #31 to HOU for #40 and #90

23. Denzel Mims WR Baylor - big WR who will take the top of the defense and make contested catches downfield or in the red zone
40. Jeff Gladney CB TCU - slightly undersized but very competitive boundary CB
87. Jordan Elliott DT Missouri - one of the best interior pass rushers in CFB. Good add to DL rotation
90. Damon Arnette CB Ohio St - good zone corner who can play inside or outside
125. Keith Ismael C/OG San Diego St. - reliable interior blocker with C/OG flexibility who is best suited for a zone scheme
156. Josiah Deguara TE/FB Cincinnati - hard nosed move TE who can block and add something as a receiver, too
176. James Proche WR SMU - average size, speed and quickness but amazing ball skills
210. Kyle Murphy OG Rhode Island - small school prospect with good athleticism, core strength and position flexibility (C/OG/OT)
217. Daniel Thomas SS Auburn - experienced SS prospect who can backup Tartt and play special teams
245. Bryce Huff OLB Memphis - hybrid OLB/DE with pass rush potential
