Keeping Jimmy G Mock

as most of you have probably noticed, I tend to make very long and rather detailed posts for my mock drafts. I just lost about 2 hours of work which included a full first round mock draft, free agency thoughts and analysis, and analysis and NFL comparisons for each draft pick. I'm not going to type all of it again, but I'll give the gist of it, and I'm happy to elaborate on any part of the post as requested. I personally would prefer a quarterback, and this draft is also contingent upon being able to resign Trent Williams.

FA:
After getting rid of Dee Ford and Weston Richburg we have somewhere between 30 and 40 million in cap space. Prioritize keeping our team in tact. Some players dependant on requiring a rather inexpensive deal because of injury concern.

Priority:
Trent Williams, OT
Corey Linsley, OC
Ben Garland, OC
Daniel Brunskill, OL (ERFA)
K'waun Williams, NCB
Jason Verrett, CB
Emmanuel Mosely, CB (ERFA)
Ronald Blair, DE
Taybor Pepper, LS (RFA)
Jeff Wilson, RB (RFA)

Fringe:
Kendrick Bourne, WR
Jamar Taylor, NCB
Jordan Reed, TE

Seems like richburg and Ford will be June 1 cuts. If so then we won't have that much during FA. That money will free up after June 1

Might have to run Jamar Taylor back to replace Williams. We will lose some good players. Like the draft but I don't see any way Paye is on the board that late

Never say never but I would doubt both Jaelon Darden and Tommy Tremble are there when you took them. I like both a lot as prospects for the 49ers though.

If we could pull this off I'd be a happy man. Not a cap expert so I don't know if it's realistic, but if it can be done it would be awesome

Think Linsley is priority 1 in outside FAs
Why is there no Jeff Wilson?
I'm in the boat of being pissed about trading down instead of getting slater. Also where is Jeff Wilson? No goddamn way he leaves imo.

Besides that, not terrible, but I'd be underwhelmed.
Id be looking to trade Wilson at some point a la breida. If we sign Trent Williams and cory lindsley I don't think oline is anywhere near a first round need
Was gonna post a Stafford mock draft, but, welp....I guess this is the mock I'm sticking with now

I'm pretty sure you don't have to be under the cap at all times. So you could spend over the cap and then use June 1 to get back under.
I like the idea of a trade down, but traditionally DE/Edge is drafted higher than expected. There are a lot of teams looking for pass rush, like Giants, Cowboys, Chargers, Cardinals, Raiders, Colts, and Titans. If Paye or Rousseau get picked at 10 or 11, I could see someone moving to 12 to grab the other Edge. If 49ers trade down I see them grabbing CB Horn or maybe one of the interior line guys or Mac Jones.

This is my understanding as well

Same. If Slater is there, you take him. Let's not make the same mistake we did last year.

If we bring back Williams and get Linsley, we should still be going offensive line. McGlinchey, Brunskill and Tomlinson should all be competing for their starting spots preferably against one another and Slater. Would be the best thing for our offensive line in a long time.

Agree to disagree. There are ways to create competition at those spots that doesn't require a 1st round pick. I have since revised a lot of my picks, but based solely off of the mock posted, banks and Jackson would immediately push to start along the interior. This is a very deep IOL class. I'd expect RT to be very high on our 2022 draft board if McGlinchey doesn't return to form this upcoming season.

Trent Williams and Corey Linsley are instantly better than anyone we can draft. Commiting to those players in free agency will not leave any room to sign an edge rusher. Pass rush is what makes a defense click, and if we move forward with Jimmy G, we need to keep our defense as close to 2019 as possible. You aren't getting that level of production with only Bosa
