*Bottomline:
Offense:
Jimmy G's final chance to make it or break it with an upgraded OL and healthy weapons. If he doesn't make it, the team needs to move on from him. Could trade the farm next year for a FQB if Jimmy doesn't pan out. At least the OL and offensive weapons are set by then.
Defense:
New DC might add his own little twist to the defensive scheme like Saleh did with Pete Carroll's system. Drafting heavy on defense should give him the benefit, the talent, and the help that he needs to be successful in his first season. Demeco seems like an aggressive type of guy from when he played, he might call the game like how he would play it. Having loads of Pass Rushers should do him good.
Why so early and young on the secondary?
Long term investment. It's basically a new system for almost everyone no matter if they coming in through FA or draft. Why not put rookie talents back there and let them grow with the system. They have Verrett and Ward as veterans to guide them. The more they grow the better they build chemistry with each other. The Pass Rush should help the young secondary if stays healthy. Their chemistry and communication should be on point in 3 or more years of playing together.
*Apologies for the long post. Lehhss Goooo Niners!!
