I know these things never happen but its fun to be a couch GM:
This is how I'd setup the team for a 5 year run of greatness:
1, Trade Jimmy to NE for a 3rd (85): Cam is cheap and not the answer and they now have the weapons to make a run with his buddy Jimmy
2. Trade for Darnold from Jets and give up a 2nd (43): Just think he fits what Kyle likes and is younger and cheaper than Jimmy
3 draft day trade: WFT trades up to take the last of the top rated QB's: We give 1(12) and 4(117) - We get 1(19), 2(51) and 3(82) they have an extra 3rd from out trade with them last year so not too much to give up for the future.
draft:
1(19) Rashod Bateman (wr) has size and speed and makes our weapons on par with the best in NFL
2(51) Dillin Radunz (ot) can start at OG this year and move to RT next year as we drop McG (not gonna pay him)
3(82) Eric Stokes (cb) starter
3(85) Quinn Meinerz (og/c) backs up Mack (who keep in mind is getting up there in age) for 2 years and then starts a C for the future
3(104) Darius Stills (DL) A guy who is very quick for his size and can push the middle
5(155) Darren Hall (cb) backup now but can develope
5(172) Khalil Herbert (rb) need more depth
5(180) best backup TE

I like it with Darnold they are guaranteed to have the number two pick next year and get that FQB!

Hey, maybe the #1 pick. When it said 5 year SB run draft, figured Watson would be involved, but hey Darnold is a great consolation prize.

Darnold is not worth a 2nd. Maybe a conditional 5th.

Bateman at 19 would be a disaster

Jimmy >>>>>>>> Darnold
Why take a 3rd for one and give up a high 2nd for the other?
If Stafford is worth 2 1sts and Russell is worth 3, then Jimmy is worth at least one and maybe more.
Carson Wentz got a 3 and a 2 and he was benched and led the league in interceptions with only 12 games played. Jimmy is a top half of the league starter.

It's laughable really. Yes Jimmy comes at a high salary but Darnold doesn't have many cheap years left. You're trading for a guy who flashed a few things but hasn't shown anything worth a 2nd round pick. Not like he's been an iron man either. Mono??
I wouldn't hate Darnold but Jets know him well, they're going to run our offense...why are they moving him if he's worth a 2nd rounder on the tail end of his rookie contract?
Reminds me of the Family guy episode where Peter wins a boat and the guy offers him a mystery box. Darnold is the mystery box.
