The guy on The Herd was postulating that 49ers are set to trade up for a QB. I looked at 2 trade partners - Jets and Falcons. Trading with the Jets would probably require sending Warner to get Zach, so I went with the Falcons trade. I'm thinking the Jets won't pass on Zach.
Falcons get: #12, #43, 2022-2nd round pick, 2022-4th round pick
49ers get: #4
4 Justin Fields QB
102 Tommy Tremble TE
117 Benjamin St. Juste CB
155 David Moore C/OG
172 Daelin Hayes Edge
180 Avery Williams CB
193 Wyatt Hubert Edge
238 Connor Weddington WR
I see Lynch holding on to JimmyG and trying to make a midseason trade if a prominent QB gets hurt. Of course its just as likely that JimmyG is the QB that gets hurt.

Would probably cost more than 2 2nds and a 4th to trade up to #4. Would probably have to give up this year's 2nd and next year's 1st. But if Shanahan likes Wilson, I wouldnt mind giving up Warner. Not sure we will be able to give him a new contract.

It will be interesting to see how the draft shakes out, I don't know if I would move up that far for Fields, when Lance could fall to us at 12. If we go into the draft, and Lance falls to 12, I would take him, and immediately offer the Pats Jimmy G for their 2nd round pick. Lance can come in right away, and play a simplified O early in the season, that is heavy run and short passes, while Shanahan implements more of the play book week by week.
Getting that 2nd for Jimmy gives us a chance to continue to add talent on either the OL-CB, or EDGE. Those would be the picks I would look to make with our TWO 2nd round picks (one for Jimmy) and our late 3rd. Trading Jimmy also opens up money for us to be active after the draft in FA if needed, or to extend Warner and then roll over money to next year.

Why not trade with the lions?? Costs way less and then pick Lance. Still trade Warner to the jets for #23. Jabril Cox or Chazz Surratt are both good linebackers who can cover the field sideline to sideline. Both 2nd or 3rd rd picks. Draft a QB and also get a DE at #23 if one is available( Azeez ) .

I think Lance is a risk. I'm betting he'll be an average QB. I'm thinking
Top Tier: Lawrence, Wilson, Fields (Wilson looks risky too)
Next Tier: Jones, Lance
After that: a bunch of backups

Fields is the one with the biggest upside. Cost is what would hold FO back from making the trade. Either Lance or Fields would help cap situation and KS can help in their development. Gonna be interesting. Read this earlier and makes so much sense to trading Warner or another player before the draft https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/nfl/49ers/.amp/news/do-the-49ers-want-to-trade-fred-warner-for-a-first-round-pick

I love the "doesn't play a premium position" argument (maybe if it's a kicker or long snapper or even RB) not if it's at op 3 player at his position like Buckner is. LOL. So AAron Donald doesn't play a premium position and therefore they should trade him? For what? Keep elite players. They traded Buckner because the couldn't pay him...had little to do with anything else. Hindsight being 20/20, it was a mistake I bet they would've tried to work it out and trade AA...who pales in comparison to Buck. Trading Warner is like trading Willis, would'nt do it. Proven All-Pro for an unknown. So we're trading Warner (trading Ray Lewis or Patrick Willis in their prime) and #12 for a QB who has 50% failure chance? f**k that s**t. Thats' the failure rate of 1st round QBs since 2011, approximately 50%, after that 94%. Everyone remembers Andrew Luck, Joe Burrow, Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert but forget the Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Brandon Weeden, EJ Manuel, Josh Rosen, and Paxton Lynch.

I just think when Shanahan goes into the car dealership to pick out his new QB he will grab a mini van and not a Bullitt Mustang

I don't see a clear 3rd/4th/5th round pick at LB that can jump in and mitigate losing Warner, so trading him does create a huge hole.

Updated mock. Assuming the 49ers' preferred OTs at 43 are gone (Cosmi, Mayfield, Jenkins). I also assumed that Edge Jayson Oweh and Greg Rousseau are gone at 43. Also assuming that Lynch can extend Tomlinson and Warner.
3 Justin Fields QB Ohio State - He'll need time to adjust to working behind center, so i see JimmyG as the starter for the year if he is healthy.
43 Brevin Jordan TE Miami - Add an offensive weapon who is an upgrade over Dwelley, plus insurance if the "big" WRs (Hurd, Jennings) flop.
102 Benjamin St. Juste CB Minnesota - 49ers need a future starter and Moseley is the only outside corner under contract past 2021.
117 Demetric Felton RB UCLA - RB/Slot WR versatility, plus adds more to the KR game than 49ers have had recently.
123 Jonathon Cooper Edge Ohio State - Trade up to grab Cooper. Depth at Edge if Ford fails to return from injury issues.
155 Trade for 123
172 Trade for 123
180 Jaylon Moore OT Western Michigan - Add a developmental OT for the future.
194 Drew Dalman C/OG Stanford - Add a developmental C for the future.
230 Shi Smith WR South Carolina - Add a developmental Slot WR for the future.
