3. Sam La Porta-TE-Iowa, 6-3 245 4.59
Watching this kid honestly reminded me a bit of Brent Jones. He's just an all around good football player. Not overly tall or heavy, but plays decently big and is a strong blocker and receiver. Was a bit banged up last year, so I could see him going in this range.
3. Isaiah McGuire-DE-Missouri, 6-4 268 4.76
Love his hand usage to generate pass rush. Also seems to have a nice bull rush too. Decent production with 7.5 sacks, but overall what I saw on film in limited review with his technique in both the run and pass game, and his athletic traits, I could see him outplaying his draft slot projection.
3. Kei'Trel Clark-CB-Louisville, 5-10 181 4.42
Fast, fluid, and great instincts. Small but not lacking in strength. IMO seems to be getting overlooked a bit because of his size, but from what I've seen, he has excellent traits for not just a nickel CB, but possibly playing outside in the NFL.
5. Jayden Reed-WR/KR-Michigan State, 5-11 191 4.45
Versatile playmaking threat. YAC monster. Great with the ball in his hands and aggressive without it. Works back to the ball to snatch it away from defenders and body them out. What I saw on tape was a guy with traits that give him a strong chance for success in the NFL. Most source slate him as a mid-rounder, although I wouldn't be shocked to see him go earlier.
5. Tavius Robinson-DE-Mississippi, 6-6 257 4.66
Doubling up on DEs? Really? But.. we got Hyder, Bryant, and Ferrell, right? Here's the deal. They're all on low cost 1-year deals. What about the future? What if they get hurt? We need all the competition we can get at the DE spot. We've talked with Robinson, and I can see why when I watch his footage. Knows how to use his physical gifts to his advantage. His go-to move is to use his length, but he does have a few others. May need to work on having a plan with his rush, but the athletic upside is promising.
5. Atonio Mafi-OG-UCLA, 6-3 329 5.42
Big guy, but personally felt he moved his feet a lot better than given credit for. People talk about Gaines II but when I watch the two, I'm not convinced Gaines will be the better player. Mafi shows far better balance and power on the punch. Mafi may not immediately have the versatility or experience at multiple spots, but I think he offers arguably higher upside than Gaines in the long run. I thought he sustained his blocks better, showed better awareness, and seemed to have superior contact balance.
6. Mehki Blackmon-CB-USC, 5-11 178 4.47
His size seems to be the only thing I can find that would knock him down to a late rounder. IMO he plays bigger than that, showing tight coverage and strong run support. Not overly fast or physical, but just a good football player.
7. Jordan Howden-S/CB-Minnesota, 6-0 203 4.49
Versatile DB who played both FS and slot CB at times (sound familiar?), so it's no surprise we took a look at him. We have an obvious need here with Moore and Ward leaving in free agency.
7. Chad Ryland-K-Maryland, 6-0 183
His first two years in college were rough but he improved greatly and became very consistent after that, hitting a number of clutch kicks and having especially strong success in Bowl games where he did not have a single miss his entire college career. Additionally, performed well at the Senior Bowl.
7. Mohamoud Diabate-LB-Utah, 6-3 225 4.52
Sideline to sideline speed, led his team in tackles for loss. Strong developmental LB prospect that is a scheme fit and could compete easily on STs and for that third LB spot.
7. Marte Mapu-LB-Sacramento State, 6-3 221 4.67
Seems to perfectly fit what we look for in our linebackers as far as fast-flying to the ball and strong coverage skills. Boasts similar abilities to what Fred Warner had coming out, though is coming from a smaller school. Unfortunately, he recently tore his pectoral and may miss the entire 2023 season. With so many picks and not many open roster spots, we have the luxury of being able to redshirt a guy like this, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is a move we make.
Position Count:
