Pre NFC Championship Mock

R1: Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma. He is a massive tackle at 6'7'', 325 lbs. He is athletic and agile, but he is inexperienced. He will benefit from playing behind and learning from Trent.
R2: Sedrick Van Pran, OC, Georgia. Very experienced. Skilled run blocker. Very physical, plays with a finisher's mentality. Should be an upgrade over Brendel.
R3: McKinnley Jackson, DL, Texas A&M; At 6'2'', 325 lbs, he is the big run stuffing nose tackle that we have been missing along the DL.
R3 (Comp pick for Jimmy G): Max Melton, CB, Rutgers. A little sloppy technically, but he has good size, he's very physical, has great motor, is great in run support, and has impressive ball skills.
R4: Jacob Cowing, WR, Arizona; Slight frame at 5'11'', 175 lbs, but he has good speed and acceleration. He is a great route runner and gets great separation. He would thrive as a YAC thread in Shanahan's offense.
R4 (Cowboys pick from Trey Lance trade): Ainias Smith, WR, Texas A&M. He is Deebo light. He is only 5'10, but he is thick and explosive. He plays all over the field. He returns kicks. He is a YAC threat and he is a great blocker.
R5 (Comp pick for Samson Ebukam): Tyrice Knight, LB, UTEP; Not the most athletic, toolsy LB. But he was one of most productive and disruptive LBs in college football last year.
R6 (Comp pick for Jimmie Ward): Frank Gore, RB, Southern Miss. Legacy pick. He is a different back from his Dad. He isn't as thick, and is little more elusive and shifty. Good all purpose back.
R6 (Comp pick for Azeez Al-Shaair): Jordan Jefferson, DL, LSU; Another run stuffing DT to add depth to and beef up the defensive line.
R7: Hudson Clark, S, Arkansas; Intelligent, versatile DB that can provide solid depth to both safety positions.
R7 (Rams pick, via Broncos from Randy Gregory trade): Walter Rouse, OT, Oklahoma; High upside, development OT that will also benefit from playing behind Trent Williams.
To me, drafting an OT with the first pick is not the way to go.... unless that player is ready to play immediately. So a raw OT doesn't make sense to me since our window is now.

I feel like this team is so close to getting it done, that we could simply draft BPA at CB, DE, DT, FS and potentially win it all.
@Waterbear, that is completely fair. If I were to adjust my mock and go for an OT that is ready to go, out of the box, I would switch out Guyton for Jordan Morgan from Arizona.
R1: Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma. Yes he still shows evidence of being new to the position, but he is toolsy enough to, at the least, take over for McKivitz half way through the season next year. That itself is worth a late 1st. Then add in him truly having possibly the 3rd highest upside at the position in the draft, and you start to think ahead to Trent's eventual replacement on the left side. Biggest thing for me in a tackle prospect is how light they are on their feet, and boy, Guyton gets to his spot in a hurry. Best part is, he isn't the annual athletic tackle that lacks in strength - he's got a natural anchor and absurd length. We can teach the rest.
Sedrick Van Pran, OC, Georgia. I like Van Pran, a lot. I mocked him to us a lot last year before he ended up returning. That said, I think this is a pick where an argument can be made that if he's not an immediate starter we should look else where. I think Powers-Johnson and Frazier could be immediate starters. With them likely being gone and Van Pran the next center up, id rather look else where. We need a center, but i dont think Van Pran is an immediate upgrade.
R3: McKinnley Jackson, DL, Texas A&M; Need this archetype of player on the roster, for sure
R3 (Comp pick for Jimmy G): Max Melton, CB, Rutgers. I think he will develop into a top 5 corner from this class.
R4: Jacob Cowing, WR, Arizona; He is listed at 5,11" 175, but he's actually 5'8" 157. That is TINY. Tank Dell would be his closest comp, and we did just see him have a tremendous rookie season, but what are the chances we get two 5'8" 160 LB stud receivers, two years in a row? And even still, Dell missed what, 6 games because of injury? Injuries will be a major concern for both of their careers due to lack of size. He'll also never be an effective blocker, which is probably a no go for shanny.
R4 (Cowboys pick from Trey Lance trade): Ainias Smith, WR, Texas A&M. Wouldn't be mad at the pick, especially if he can be a viable kick Returner. Thick body with good explosiveness and contact balance.
R5 (Comp pick for Samson Ebukam): Tyrice Knight, LB, UTEP; haven't watched.
R6 (Comp pick for Jimmie Ward): Frank Gore, RB, Southern Miss. This better happen
R6 (Comp pick for Azeez Al-Shaair): Jordan Jefferson, DL, LSU; Another need from an archetype standpoint.
R7: Hudson Clark, S, Arkansas; haven't watched
R7 (Rams pick, via Broncos from Randy Gregory trade): Walter Rouse, OT, Oklahoma; man, how good has Oklahoma been at OT?! Tyler Guyton, Wanya Morris, Anton Harrison

Niners are in a unique position where they can draft for need. Their roster is so good that they should fill the holes where they need help and not have to worry about the ramifications. I like solving the OT need right off the bat. Could be Guyton, Suamataia, or Jordan Morgan if they don't trade up. With Trent staying for one more year, Niners can replace McKivitz with someone who can only play RT (Guyton) right now or play both (Suamataia/Morgan). Agree with adrianlesnar about Powers-Johnson or Frazier. Van Prann has question marks going back to last year's draft so I would go a different direction there. Like Ainias Smith as the one WR to pick. Would rather take an edge rusher/DE instead of Cowing as Niners may not keep Chase Young. Like the rest of the picks. Nice mock.
When I run draft simulations if I don't take an OT with the first pick I end up reaching/forcing it and not liking the way the draft goes. I see DT and CB in the 2nd and 3rd round that fit and no offensive line later in the draft.

1st OT
2nd CB
3rd trade up for DT
