MBA Mock draft 2.0 Pre-Combine and free agency edition

After the gut wrenching loss in the Super Bowl, the Niners needs have not changed much since my mid season mock. The main areas of need are:

- offensive line needs to be upgraded at RT and on the interior
- rebuild our DT position to strengthen our defense against the run
- better coverage in the secondary, specifically on the slot and from our safeties
- upgrade our depth at skill positions (Edge, WR, RB and LB) where we have been strong up until now

This draft is based on Drafttek.com's big board as of 2/20/24.

Round 1 Amarius Mims OT Georgia - one of the premier prospects at OT who has the physical tools, but not the game experience; lucky he falls this far
Round 2 Zach Frazier C/OG West Virginia - experienced player who can start right away; physical and instinctive player who excels in the run game
Round 3 Max Melton CB Rutgers - physical and fearless player who will contribute against the run; scheme versatile coverage player in the pass game
Round 3 Braden Fiske DT Florida St - explosive, quick DT who can be disruptive in the run game and as a pass rusher
Round 4 Beau Brade S Maryland - hybrid defender who is excellent against the run and playing deep safety
Round 5 Ainias Smith WR Texas A&M - Niners coaches dream; willing blocker, experience at both WR and RB, and special teams upside as a KR
Round 6 Tanor Bortolini C/OG Wisconsin - C/OG combo with experience, skill and nasty demeanor that should succeed in a zone run offense
Round 6 Dallin Holker FB/TE Colorado State - latest in the impressive line of NFL ready TE's from this program
Round 6 Javon Solomon Edge Troy - designated pass rusher with upside and good functional strength
Round 7 Aaron Casey ILB Indiana - above average pass defender with good range; former HS safety

UDFA Evan Anderson NT Florida Atlantic or Jordan Jefferson NT LSU
Carter Bradley QB South Alabama or Austin Reed QB Western Kentucky
Dylan Laube RB New Hampshire or Kendall Milton RB Georgia

Free Agent targets who could change this list: Robert Hunt OG, Aziz Al -Shaair LB and DJ Jones DT
Great draft, I think they'll have to trade up to get Frazier. Fiske is a monster. Against Louisville, he absolutely wrecked that game along with Verse.
I do like this draft. But I also believe the 49ers have a bit of a problem with selecting offensive linemen. I am not sure how the selection process works. Who gets input on line picks and who does not. But Kyle Shanahan has whiffed on more offensive line picks than he has succeeded with.
Excellent!!
Aaron Casey in the 7th would be a steal
