No trade draft 2nd try

  • Round 1, Pick 31
Cooper DeJean CB Iowa (6'1", 207)
Extremely physical cornerback at the catch point who has big size and great speed. He can run with any wide receiver and is very smooth when flipping his hips and staying in phase on vertical routes. He also adds something in the return game.

  • Round 2, Pick 63
Jordan Morgan OT Arizona (6'5", 325)
Fluid, highly capable athlete with a classic NFL OT frame, despite slightly shorter arms than what's normally desired. Wingspan is fine. Fires out of his stance fast and naturally. Glides. Super loose hips, which help him mirror against all types of counter moves. Awesome in that regard.

  • Round 3, Pick 94
T'Vondre Sweat DL Texas (6'4", 362)
Enormous, wide-bodied classic NT. Immovable on doubles and has active hands. Some burst to his game and pass-rush moves but won't win consistently with either at the NFL level. Took step forward getting after the quarterback in his final season. Large tackling radius.

  • Round 4, Pick 124
Theo Johnson TE PSU (6'6", 260)
Great size, and he tested really well at the combine. Johnson has good top-end speed, acceleration and agility. He blocks with good leverage and drives his feet on contact in the run game.

  • Round 4, Pick 132
Brenden Rice WR USC (6'3", 210)
Good-sized, decently built outside WR with chain-moving skills and some downfield juice to threaten deep. Because of his somewhat larger frame, he can work through physicality in the route. Efficient, smart athlete, meaning he gets north-south in a hurry after the catch. Very authoritative there and will break some tackles in space, hard to bring to the turf. Son of Jerry Rice!

  • Round 4, Pick 135
Tommy Eichenberg LB OSU (6'2", 239)
Well-proportioned, active, high-intensity off-ball LB. He has blitzing talent, as he's fast, powerful and slippery. He's a smooth-ish athlete whose quicker than fast to the corner or in coverage. On pass plays, there's plus awareness to his game, as he will peel off routes to make plays in zone. But right now, he's best as a run-stopper. He's a quick key-reader, quick trigger, and lateral agility is impressive for a LB his size

  • Round 5, Pick 176
Will Shipley RB Clemson (5'11", 210)
His size is similar to Christian McCaffery and he plays the same. Sophomore season looked better than his Junior year. Great pass catcher and can run between the tackles. A bit of a project RB, but has great potential and high ceiling.

  • Round 6, Pick 211
Trey Taylor S Air Force (6', 210)
He started 36 of 38 games in the last three seasons, racking up 205 tackles, 11 TFL, 6 INT's, 14 PD's, and 3.5 sacks. Won't be immediate starter, but will develop for next level and could be great on special teams.

  • Round 6, Pick 215
Xavier Thomas DE Clemson (6'2", 245)
Has a nice burst off the line to win with speed around the edge. Sets up his pass-rush moves well. Solid bend at the top of the rush. High pass- motor to help get coverage sacks.

  • Round 7, Pick 251
Luke McCaffery WR Rice (6'2", 195)
Good hands, and the necessary spatial awareness and concentration to compete for contested catches. He gets out of his stance and up to speed quickly. Good addition for special teams as well. And CMC's brother.

I think this is solid, but lemme know. I'm ready for the "constructive criticism" lol

My biggest problem with people's mocks this year is pigeonholing a tackle at 31, even though there's a clear tier drop after Mims, Fauntanu, and Latham.

I don't expect Dejean to be there at 31, but I like that you went in another direction to draft BPA.

I think your second and third picks are unlikely to happen as well. Morgan and Sweat will be gone by then.

I like it otherwise.
I appreciate the feedback. I think dejean may be there but the more I think about it 2 & 3 would need some luck but both are late 2nd and 3rd. So maybe

DeJean will not likely be there at 31. I, as well, do not like the choices at tackle at 31. It's really going to depend if anyone slips, but I think the right call is Texas WR Mitchell at 31.

Why? He brings the msot value and the positions of need aren't good value at 31.

nice draft I hope we are that lucky to get a lot of players to fall to us

Yeah based on what you see in most mocks, this mock has the first three guys dropping a lot to get picked in those slots.

Think it's about as likely as Mitchell being there (unlikely for both). ESPN has Mitchell ranked 20th (#4 WR). BPA may be a DT or a lower tier WR (Worthy, McConkey, Coleman).

What's sucks is I don't think any other position can make a big enough impact at 3-. I don't think any corner can start over yiaddim year 1. And no dt or de will start over what we have.
