NYniner85 2024 Mock Draft

Tough year to make a mock. There's a ton of directions and plenty of good talent this yr. I used Dane Brugler's "the beast" draft guide to get round about on draft grades/projections for each pick. I know some of these guys will go higher or lower…I wasn't the one who put the grades in each player.

I might do one more with trades.

31- Kinsley Suamataia BYU OT- we've met with him numerous times. Very good measureables and pedigree. Has a chance to be a damn good starting OT in the league with some seasoning. I'm guessing at some point in the season he would be our starting RT.

63- Mike Hall Jr OSU DT- another guy with a good pedigree who we've had a top 30 visit with. Good length and good size/quickness that we like as a 3Tech penetrator. Not sure why he hasn't been talked about more? coach K approves.

94- Dadrion Taylor-Demerson Tech Tech S/NCB- love this dude! Reminds me of Jimmie Ward. Can play FS or be setup in the slot. I also get some honey badger vibes from him. Sign me up.

124-Mason McCormick South Dakota state OC/G- another one of my guys. Good athlete and tough as f**k. I think he would thrive in this scheme. As a OG he was actually responsible for calling protections. He can be groomed to be our center of the future.

132-Javon Baker UCF WR- another one of my guys! We've met with him. Former Bama WR who transferred. Good route runner. Great hands and good downfield speed. IMO would have been the best WR on that Bama team last yr.

135-Renardo Green FSU CB-a little undersized but played a lot on the outside at FSU. Shut down some of the best WRs in college football. Willing tackler. If he's here at this point that's a great value.

176-Dewayne Carter Duke DT- I just like watching this guy play, he's a solid player. 3 year starter and captain. He's not amazing at one thing, but good at a lot of stuff. He's strong as s**t with a good base. I can see him collapsing some pockets. He's 24 so that will hurt his draft stock. You can line him up in the 3T or 5T.

211- Jaheim Bell FSU TE/HB- he's not a true TE he's a bad blocker, but he's fun to watch when he gets the ball in his hands! I'm not saying he's Jordan Reed, but I think Kyle would find a way to use him.

215-Blake Watson RB Memphis-late rd RB who can catch the ball. Has some juice (4.39 speed) not a great pass protector. thought he had great balance and pretty smooth from what little I've seen. 3rd down back if he can improve in the pass-pro department.

251-Ladarius Henderson Michigan OT/OG-late rd lineman who started for Michigan. Not sure if he last this late. toss in whatever lineman is there.

Would not be mad at this. Would be rather happy honestly. Though don't see Green lasting that long. Which would change my opinion on this draft. As I see us really needing a top CB type dude. Which Green would provide if he were there.

Honestly think we'd need to use our 2nd to get Green

Yeah I agree there, like I said I was just using his big board to make the picks. I don't expect to use all our picks or stay where we are obviously.

I like Hall a lot, but I could see them going CB in the 2nd. I feel like Carter could be a solid DT in the league. For me I like the IDL in this draft, only two guys I have a first rd grade on…ton of really solid prospects worth going after though.

On the opposite side, I don't feel like there's a ton of really good CB prospects. Some guys that will contribute and hopefully some gems in the later rds but I wouldn't be shocked if we go heavy on the trenches.

I also don't feel there's a ton of really good CBs. Really hoping they go that route in rounds 1 or 2.
Can't see his big board but most of those players are gone by the time you have us picking them in Brugler's mock draft.

I like Suamataia if he's there (young, good measurables, even more athletic than he tested at combine - hit 21.5 mph as a freshman, his coach said he's much faster than Blake Freeland who ran 4.98). Have a hard time believing a team takes Jordan Morgan ahead of him.

Ideally, I'd take Melton in 2nd in Brugler's mock draft and then there are lots of options with 3rd pick (DT, IOL, LB, TE, WR depending on who falls).

Where players go in Brugler's mock:
Hall - 43
Taylor-Demerson - 82
Carter - 108
Baker - 128 (seems low - he's #47 prospect on CBS, #85 on ESPN)
Bell - 182
Watson - 211 (close enough to 215)
Henderson - 242

Guys available where we're picking:
Suamataia - 34
McCormick - 129
Green - 144

I'm using his grades on prospects, for example: he has a 2nd/3rd on Hall. His big board has him at 60th overall.

DTD is his 96th overall player and he has a 4th rd grade on him.

Carter isn't in his top 100 and he's got a 4th/5th on him.

Baker is his 20th overall WR and he has a 4th rd grade on him.

that's who's grades and big board I used….I can't use CBS/PFF/ESPN/The Athletic/TDN's big boards all together. They all have massively different discrepancies in player grades. So I picked a guy who's analysis I trust and made picks as close to the grades he gave players as I could. I think Green is gonna go higher, but he had a 4th rd grade on him.

Top to bottom I don't think this CB class is that good..especially those outside guys. LBer stinks, RB is lacking any real stars. TEs stink. The meat and potatos of this draft is in the trenches and at WR imo.

I disagree with you on RB and TEs. At least as it relates to what we need. LBs there are a few guys I really like. Just not where we'd have to draft them.
Good job NY, I wouldn't be mad.
Dane is obviously pretty taped in, so if he says green is going that late, color me veryyyy intrigued

Agree to disagree, I think most folks don't feel like this is a a strong draft at those positions this yr.

4th is about where I've seen green going in most drafts.

great draft. Covers all needs.

Thanks man. There's so many different directions to go and I would be fine with it. Hoping to come away with multiple guys from the trenches (both sides) some secondary help and a WR.
