Every year there are players picked way earlier and way later than projected. I try to keep my mock "realistic" but also not get too stuck on group think projections.
Here's my 2024 49er mock
R1 - 31
Kingsley Suamataia
OT | BYU
In another year with fewer high end OT prospects he'd probably go sooner. But this year he's viewed as a second rounder. I see high floor and good upside. Take him here and get that 5th year option.
R2 - 63
Braden Fiske
DL | FSU
Short arms or no, I want this kind of motor and tenacity on the D line.
R3 - 94
Max Melton
CB | Rutgers
Might be optimistic that he lasts this long. But slot/outside versatility and starter upside would be great to get in the 3rd.
R4 - 124
Brendan Rice
WR | USC
Could have easily gone with Malik Washington or Javon Baker here. But the all round solid play and return ability made me choose Rice. Plus the obvious…
R4 - 132
Jaheim Bell
TE | FSU
Delanie Walker 2.0. Bell can play TE in that "F back" alignment that makes him essentially a backup for both TE and FB. Plus, like Walker, I could see him being used as a kick returner in the new kick off formation.
R4 - 135
Tanor Bortolini
IOL | Wisconsin
Athletic Center that can be paired with Purdy for years.
R5 - 176
Kitan Oladapo
S | Oregon State
Cam Chancellor vibes. Physical safety with ball skills. Could see him being an important special teams player especially with the new kickoff rules.
R6 - 211
Isaac Guerendo
RB | Louisville
One cut speed, receiving ability and good size. A little concerned he wasn't the starter but love the skill set.
R6 - 215
Nelson Ceasar
EDGE | Houston
Speed off the edge would be great to find this late in the draft.
R7 - 251
Tejhuan Palmer
WR | UAB
There's a lot late round WRs I really like this year. Bub Means, Gould, Whittington… I'd be excited about any of them. But Tejhuan is probably my favorite because he has size, speed and a knack for big plays.
