MBA 1st Draft - mid season mock

The "I hope the 49ers buck the tread" mock with some early help on the offensive line in addition to the defensive line. Based on NFL Mock Draft Database big board as of 11/11 and the best case scenario where the Niners get all the comp picks they are owed.

Round 1 Abdul Carter EDGE Penn State - speedy EDGE rusher who can also set the edge in the run game and cover, too; steal if he drops to pick 18
Round 2 Josh Simmons OT Ohio State - LT of the future; great blend of power and athleticism; can play OG if necessary; coming off of injury so available late
Round 3a Demonte Capehart DT Clemson - two gapping run stopper which this defense desperately needs
Round 3b Trey Amos CB Old Miss - Alabama transfer shutdown CB; replacement for Mooney Ward if he leaves
Round 4 Nic Anderson WR Oklahoma - big WR (6'4" 220) with big play ability (21.0 YPC average)
Round 5 Sebastian Castro S Iowa - hybrid NCB/S with good coverage skills who hits hard
Round 6 Logan Jones C Iowa - athletic C with high football IQ and good functional strength
Round 7 Chris Paul Jr. LB Old Miss - ILB who is one of the biggest draft risers this year; good tackler with some coverage ability, too
Round 7 Bryson Nesbit TE North Carolina - alignment versatile TE who's too big for smaller safeties and too quick for most LB's
Round 7 Marcus Wehr OG Montana St - size, strength and athleticism prospect who would be a great fit in zone run scheme
Round 7 Tim Smith NT/DT Alabama - Experienced run stopped who could play DT or base end in a 4-3

I like your draft and emphasis on building the lines. Curious your thought process on Simmons. Are you drafting him to play RT immediately and then switch him to LT when Trent retires?
#CapeHardForCapehart
I like Capehart a lot too. But I go back and forth between him and Corleone from Cincinnati. Who do you like better?

I don't think he would have an issue playing RT which would move McKivitz back to the swing tackle role. Simmons would definitely end up being the LT of the future.

Corleone has had some medical issues (blood clots) come up in the recent past. Capeheart does not have any injury concerns that I could see. Capeheart also has played in a DL rotation at Clemson so he shouldn't have as much wear and tear on his body.
This would be insane draft. Only one that's not likely is Abdul Carter. Princely would also be a good 1st rd pick. All other picks make sense.

I agree with you on that. The closer we get to the playoff bracket, the better Carter has been playing. Definite like the idea of Umanmielen as the alternative at this pick.
